Was reluctant to get this due to bad reviews; fortunately it’s absolutely fantastic. There is a surprisingly deep upgrade system and a huge variety of weapons all of which can be upgraded multiple times. It is a bit grind heavy to get better weapons and power: and I ended up grinding to the point of being overpowered by the end game; but that’s the appeal and addictive quality of this game. Fans of the original side scroll games will be upset but honestly this is a better deeper experience. It definitely feels low budget with repeated environments and lack of polish, but that adds to its charm as the core game play and overall presentation is thoroughly satisfying and atmospheric. For a reduced price (I bought for £16) it’s absolutely worth it if you get addicted to loot based systems and upgrading weapons and characters.

I didnt mind the demo bur definitely wouldnt pay full price it daft and a laff. I just wish developers would wake up qe scream for our retro games the cinta swriea ia classic we di t nedd stupid 3d updates we want 2d mar action tht gave these games there legacy…..wake up konami

So being a contra fan, this game blends the old with the new. It’s playable but I wouldn’t say you have to run out and get it. If your without internet and down for covid it would be a good player.

I don’t want to give any lower review because this was my fav when I was little. However this does not carry a lot of classic things from the original. A little disappointed 🙁 don’t understand the panda too. Why!? Why a panda 🐼
