Game is not that great. Controls are a bit confusing to me. But good if we play with cheats like in PC game

Having been a fan of the GTA series for many years now I was very disappointed when I got word that the expansion packs for GTA4 would only be made available to 360 users upon. The thing that pissed me off more than anything was that GTA started off as a Playstation exclusive game. Of course it was only time before the expansion packs came out for PS3 as well, but it still wasn’t a smart move on Rockstar’s part if you ask me. That’s definitely not a good vibe to send to your PS3 owners out there.
Anyway, on to my review, and I’ll keep this brief. I just got this game last week and I’ve already beaten it. First off when buying this game you need to be realistic. Combined the two expansion packs The Lost & The Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony add up to a solid week of gaming in my opinion in which time you can beat both games. Story wise, the Ballad of Gay Tony wins hands down. But,…I do have to give The Lost & The Damned the 1up on the title though. Really? “The Ballad of Gay Tony”? Anyway, Gay Tony just had a lot more to offer. More vehicles, a better story, and all the excitement you could ask for. One thing I noticed between the two was little intricate details. In Lost & the Damned a grain filter was used to make the game look a little more gritty. Also, in the game there was almost always a constant overcast, or it was raining. Further adding the realism to the dark nature of the story. And on the flip side, Gay Tony also had the details in this area. A gloss filter was applied to give everything more of a shine, and it was almost always sunny in the Ballad of Gay Tony. But what really got me was the intertwining stories. That was what did it for me 🙂 The creators of this series managed to mix the stories of The Lost & The Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony together and blend it in the with the original story of GTA4. That was a winning attribute in my book. I’m not gonna bother spoiling the stories of either game for you. I’ll just leave it to you to see how good it is for yourself. For the $20 that you’ll probably pay through Amazon or a 3rd party source, this game is well worth the purchase. Another winning installment from the great Rockstar Games Inc.

I originally bought a strictly for GTA4. The series has always been one of my favorites and Episodes from Liberty City just found a new place in my heart.
Episodes from Liberty City is the continuation of the GTA4 storyline, weaving in and out of Niko’s storyline. Before buying the game, I replayed GTA and noticed small instances of Johnny and Luis throughout. Many people have complained that the two main characters are not as complelling as Niko, but I feel that their job is not to be complelling, but to add to the already huge Grand Theft Auto Universe.
In “The Lost and the Damned” you play as Johnny the Jew, the VP of the Lost Biker gang. Because the story is so short, I will not give away the plot and will just talk about the game play, but if you have ever seen “Sons of Anarchy” on FX, it includes many of the same elements. Many reviews I read prior to buying the game was that “The Ballad of Gay Tony” was the only one worth buying… this would have definitely been a mistake. Though TLAD is run of the mill run and shoot missions just like GTA4, the world is extremely entertaining. The grit system used to give the game a different appearance is extremely effective… the storyline is much more serious and the darkened graphics enhance that. There are a plethora of side missions; stealing bikes, racing using bats, cleaning up “dirty laundry”, and leading the Lost in gang wars. Even after the required number of races and gang wars are complete, they continue regenerating, giving what most GTA players are looking for… the ability to fight and drive with some sort of purpose. The game also contains new weapons including a machine pistol, pipe bombs, and the incredibly powerful combat shotgun. This is the first of all the GTAs I have been compelled to complete 100%.
In “The Ballad of Gay Tony” you play as Luis, the business partner and bodyguard of Gay Tony. Again, with such a sort story I will not give anything away, but the real purpose of TBoGT is to blow things up. Again there are many new weapons, my favorite being the shotgun with explosive rounds which actually causes cars to fold in on themselves. The game also has numerous things to do outside of the missions, including drug wars, base jumping, club management, and even a dancing minigame.
All in all, I’d personally say I enjoyed TLAD more than TBoGT. Both are short, which encourages you to do all of the side missions; most of the time I found myself performing gang wars, races, and base jumps before taking the effort to complete other missions. Because both games continue re spawning gang and drug wars, they both have alot of replay value. TBoGT also allows you to replay missions (similar to Red Dead Redemption) to continue getting higher scores and more achievements.
I would recommend both of these games. If you look on Amazon’s New and Used section you can find some for cheap that qualify for free shipping too! I got my copy for $28 with free shipping, and it arrived before the expected date.
PS If you look in the manual of Episodes, there is a small picture about saying goodbye to Liberty City, with a rip in the corner that gives a hint to the next GTA game! Search online… some people imaged it again the other two games to find out what it means!

I grew up with the GTA series I remember the xmas of 2001 or 2002 getting a ps2 and I only wanted 1 game, GTA 3! I had liked the concept of gta1 and 2 but i didnt like the birds eye top view of the game. When I seen my cousin playing GTA 3 for the 1st time it was mind blowing to see such a huge free roam game and it be in real 3D and 3rd person veiw I loved it, soon to follow was vice city my 2nd fav game of all time.. set in the 1980s Miami, it was something new and fresh that we all had never experienced in a video game. Then San Andreas came out which is my all time fav GTA game period and there were also 2 more episode games for GTA3 and Vice City but the originals were way better so I wont get into them. Anyway for my review :
Graphics/ Gameplay: for the time of this game the graphics were mind blowing along with how big the whole map is on this game running smooth frames still holds up to todays standars. The physics and driving are pretty realistic id have to say for a GTA game, cars look great and character models look sub par to todays standards but its GTA who cares! lol.
Story: This game follows 2 branching storys of GTA 4 so u get really 2 games for 1 price. id suggest getting the “complete edition” though because it includes GTA4 and its not much more money to buy. As far as content goes there is alot to do in GTA4/ episodes, u can play pool, go bowling, be a taxi driver, a police officer, kill people, pick up hookers if thats your thing, street race, theres really a lot to do in this collection. also cage fighting, the story of the 2 games lasts about 15-20 hours or even more if youre the exploring type. The story has really good quality and the characters feel very much fleshed out, but not as of those of say Red Dead Redemption or Max Payne which are both newer games. the story/ extra content I give 7.5/10
Multiplayer/ co op: the multiplayer of this game is very good, not to say now days how many ppl are actually still on there. You have your usual team deathmatch / deatmatch modes but the difference in this and every other mp shooter is these matches take place in the games actual city where there are cars to drive and pretty much all of what u get in the story is in the multiplayer too. There is also free roam, this is where u will find the majority of the ppl playing GTA 4 online, the whole games map is open to u and your friends to roam wild and cause chaos! while being able to kill other players and really make sure to do so because if u dont theyll be coming for u! multiplayer and its content get a 8/10
All in all this game is a great buy for how much it costs. the vast amount of content and the story is worth the money by their selves, PLUS u get a multiplayer like no other multiplayer ever! *Parents if you havent heard of the GTA name by now, This game is strictly adult oriented and no1 under 17 should play this game period.* Not to say games like this influence ppl to do bad stuff because I dont believe that at all and im not 1 of those ppl.. but the rating on the game being Mature is there for a reason. This game is a great game with tons of hours of gameplay for your $$$ and what better time than now to get caught up on GTA series considering GTA 5 will be coming out in August of this year.
Verdict: GTA 4 complete edition = 9/10 stars and GTA 4: episodes (this game) =8.2/10 because its not perfect but offers alot

There is a issue with the pixels

only reason for one less star is because seller did not provide any game booklet/game map that comes with this game. they should specify that these things will not be included in the DVD cover like they should be… almost makes me doubt the authenticity of the game cd.
regardless, games works flawlessly with my first gen PS3, have had great fun playing it thus far!

This game plays like a kind of “Rosencrantz and Gildenstern are Dead” to GTA4’s “Hamlet”. You get to experience key scenes from the story mode of GTA4 from the perspectives of two minor characters, each of whom get their own full stories and side missions. If you’re familiar with the GTA series (since GTA3 at least), you’ll be able to jump right in and start killing people as per usual.
My favorite additions to the game include some new weapons (sticky bombs, a rapid fire shotgun with exploding shells), a slick new helicopter with missiles, and my personal favorite: parachutes. The Ballad of Gay Tony brings the parachutes into play, first with a relatively simple intro-to-new-stuff mission, and then with a series of B.A.S.E. jumping side missions. There’s something to be said for driving a motorcycle off of a building, jumping off, deploying a parachute and attempting to land on a moving boat…which can be as frustrating as it sounds until you get the hang of parachute physics.
My biggest complaint with the game is with online play. The game is available in two formats: you can either buy the GTA4: Episodes From Libery City disc, or you can buy the two add-ons as downloadable content from the Playstation Store and play using the original GTA4 disc. The problem is people who buy the disc can’t play online with people who buy the game as DLC…so if your buddy already bought the DLC and you bought the disc, one of your is going to have to buy the game again in the other format if you want to play online.
There are a few weird glitches in the game as well, often involving re-starting missions after you die. There were at least two missions where if you re-started them after dying, all of the cops (who were kind of key to the storyline of the missions) magically disappeared, making the mission waaaaaay simpler. I found these problems minor at best.
One final minor complaint: The Lost and Damned story mode went by way too quickly. There are plenty of side missions (races, biker wars, stealing bikes, etc.) to complete, but I would have liked more story. However, the replay factor of online play more than makes up for the quick story mode…even if I can only play with other people who bought the disc and not the DLC.
Just to be clear: this is a totally fun game. I’ve finished Lost and Damned story mode (not even close to 100% yet) and am working my way through The Ballad of Gay Tony…and I’m still loving it. I only mention the issues above because I wish I’d known about them (particularly the online play) before I bought the disc. The overall fun far outweighs the relatively minor problems.
Disclaimer: this should go without saying, but this is not a game for kids. There’s a lot of drug related content, there are several mini side missions (picking up a girl on the dance floor, honking at prostitutes, etc.) that result in your character having sex (which they show on-screen – it’s not THAT graphic but you definitely get the idea of what’s going on), and there’s male side character who shows up naked (complete with digital junk) from time to time. You’ve been warned, moms.

After a long wait GTA IV: Episodes from Liberty City is finally on the PS3. I own GTA IV on Xbox 360 and have play both episodes on that console. I bought this version so I could compare the 360 version to the PS3 version; Both versions are terrific. However, the graphics on the 360 looks slightly better; the graphics on the PS3 version are soft and color isn’t quite as natural, but the difference is hardly noticeable. Also, I prefer the 360 controller to the PS3 controller. The controls are identical on both systems, but the 360 controller is more ergonomic. In short: if you have both consoles then buy the 360 version, but if not you can’t go wrong by picking up a copy of the PS3 version. Both The Lost and the Damned and the Ballad of Gay Tony improve on an already great game by adding all new story-lines, weapons, vehicles and more, but without the need to own the original GTA IV game. The Lost and the Damned is unique for a GTA game because you don’t start off as a nobody and have to work your way up, instead you’re Johnny Klebitz, the VP of a biker gang called The Lost Motorcycle Club. Some nice improvements to this game are mid-mission checkpoints, so now if you die halfway through a mission you no longer have to redo the entire thing. This does make the game easier and thus go by faster, but it keeps you in the middle of the action. There’s also quite a few new tracks on the radio stations to go along with the rougher biker gang theme. Overall I thought this would have been on par with GTA IV if only the storyline was longer; you’ll be surprised how fast you can fly though this game. The second game included is The Ballad of Gay Tony. Let me first start off by saying this so there’s no confusion: the character that you play as is not gay, not that there’s anything wrong with that. Instead, you are Luis Lopez, a business associate and bodyguard to one of the biggest club owners in Liberty City, “Gay” Tony Prince AKA Gay Tony. Like The Lost and the Damned, there are some new elements to this game besides a new storyline. Weapons and vehicles have been updated along with the radio stations. In the game you can now use parachutes, which play important roles in some of the missions. Length wise its about the same as The Lost; nowhere near as long as GTA IV. If you enjoyed playing GTA IV then Episodes from Liberty City should not be missed!
