There’s nothing too not like.
Even the software it comes with is brilliant.

Niiice – def has that radio announcer SM7 vibe .. However
1- Like an SM7, its a ‘quiet’ Low Output mic – A few inches from your face, most any XLR in should handle it – a foot or so you SHOULD be ok, with anything of reasonable quality – but given the wide pickup pattern, if you want to place it a few feet from you / your guests, you GOTTA have a quality high gain preamp soz not to hit the ‘noise floor’, aka background hisss!
-update- others say this IS louder than an SM7 – but “no signal booster required” is kinda dependent on use case
2- the built in pop filter seems to work a treat – internal vib’n damping, not so much – I wouldn’t recommand using it straight on a boom arm like in the picture, or attach it straight to your desk. Whatever stand or mount you use this guy could use SOME form of shock mount or rubbery damping
3- After going thru every noise source in the room, shutting down the PC’s STILL an irritating lil buzz of .. INDUCTION hum – I tracked this down to a cheapo laptop charger, but you could get issues like this with cheapo (and not so cheapo?) Monitors and other hardware, so positioning carefully whilst listening on headphones is recommended (the SM7 has an internal anti induction coil – but for an SM7 PRICE)
After dealing with the little issues, this is a sweet mic, and I’m glad i got it – if your serious about podcasting you gotta move stuff around to avoid acoustic and electrical noise anyhows, and one thing this guy has over the TC Helicon is its wide pickup angle – now I’ve got my head round it, its great, but DO bear in mind you always gotta work a bit to set things up nice, for your bedroom podcasting studio
