For years I’ve been wanting to have a home theater system. I’ve been listening to movies through my TV audio for far too long. I did HOURS upon HOURS of research before finally deciding on Sonos mainly due to the high ratings and the fact that the Sonos Arc was tested and listened to by academy award winning sound engineer, Chris Jenkins, who listened to the Sonos Arc himself and was very happy with the results.
Now, before I continue I should add that your TV needs to be fairly new in order to work with Sonos Arc. I myself recently purchased a Samsung TU8000 which supports Dolby Atmos and eArc connection. If your TV only has Arc connection, it will still work, but not in the same manner as it would with eArc. In other words:
Sonos eArc to TV Arc = Arc Connection
Sonos eArc to TV eArc = eArc Connection
What’s the difference? To put it simply, Arc stands for Audio Return Channel. eArc stands for ENHANCED Audio Return Channel. That means it can handle more advanced audio formats and higher audio quality, such as Dolby Atmos in this case. Now, if you do not have EITHER Arc or eArc on your TV, they also have an HDMI to optical adapter which comes in the box. Again, eArc on your TV is the BEST for audio, but Sonos is providing you with more than one option in case your TV is older.
With that said, lets move on…
The Sonos Arc by itself (without any speakers or subwoofers) sounds wonderful on its own! I actually questioned if I really needed a subwoofer or rear speakers because it sound excellent just by itself in my opinion. It has plenty of bass when listening to music or watching a movie. The audio is crystal clear. The voices are clear as well.
However, I had already ordered the rear speakers which arrived in the mail a few days later. I connected them as well to the Arc and tested a few movies that support Dolby Atmos such as Star Wars and Zootopia. I must say I am extremely happy with this setup! The sound isn’t as “jumpy” as other surround systems I’ve heard in the past (I’m talking years ago). For instance, if a train passes and you hear it go from the front to the rear speakers, it is smooth!! It doesn’t just jump to the back speaker. It does it in a way that sounds realistic, similar to a high end movie theater. I love this! Star Wars sounds absolutely amazing as well! If you really want to test the sound of Atmos, I highly recommend the pod racing scene from Star Wars episode 1. I know, I know, it’s not everyones favorite film. I’m just saying the Atmos surround sound within that scene is just a wonderful way to test out your new system. You will be amazed!
Now, not all movies support Atmos. I’ve tested Dolby Digital audio, such as Harry Potter, and was pleasantly surprised as well. In order to change from Atmos to other audio formats, such as Dolby Digital, you need to do it from your TV settings. Sonos does not have a setting for it. Your TV will though. I did it with my Samsung TU8000 and simply turned off “Atmos” in settings which automatically switched it to Dolby Digital. The surround sound came on immediately once I did this.
DTS:X is unfortunately NOT supported, which is a downside but because it supports other formats I let this slide. Harry Potter, for example, despite NOT being in Atmos still sounds wonderful in Dolby Digital.
As for voice commands you have 2 options: Google or Alexa. I chose Alexa because that is what I have always had in my home. It is easy to play music using Amazon Music. The sound is excellent, especially songs with a lot of bass. In fact, the bass is so good that I cancelled my Subwoofer that I was planning to get. I MAY change my mind later, but for right now the bass on the Arc alone is so good that I just don’t really feel I need the Subwoofer right now.
Overall, I am very happy with my new home theater system. It offers great and more realistic surround sound compared to home theater systems I’ve listened to in the past. The setup is easy using the new Sonos App. I love the fact that it is so easy to switch from Amazon Music, to watching a movie or TV. It is aesthetically pleasing to the eye and the black blends in nicely to my black TV stand. Highly recommended!!!!
Amazon Customer –
My early review have been using since 5 days.
I received package one day early , I saw couple of punch holes on the box . So immediately opened the box to check for any damage .
I have put this in my bedroom (small to medium room ). Previously I use to have YAS-209 .Connected to my LG C2 .
Pros:
1) Good and wide sound stage for my room.
2) Extremely good sound both at Mids and highs.
3) Good clarity in dialogs.
4) Enough bass for small room ( Don’t expect heart thumping bass from a single Bar ).
5) We can feel side ways movement of sound which relates to point 1 above.
Cons:
1) Connectivity took sometime as Sonos app was not detecting my internet connection.
2) No height channel affect – didn’t feel any Dolby atmos affect coming from above even after true play correction .Not much difference.
( Appreciate if someone can help on this).Though my roof is very low.
3) On earc connections only volume and down we can do but we don’t know what is the exact volume , no number is displayed.
Frankly with premium purchase I thought I will experience height channels affect , this is only major disappointment.

The tonality of this soundbar is really good. Mid range manages to sound like some of the bookshelf speakers.
I have edifier s1000mkii and hivi swans m50w mkiii so those are my point of reference.
Movies –
If you are buying this for atmos, DONT!!! It doesn’t have that height effect but I guess none of the relatively cheaper soundbars does.
Apart from that you will love this bar for movies.
– The soundstage is really good for such a small bar.
– Dialog clarity is excellent even without invoking the speech enhancement feature. I hate shimmery highs and it has just perfectly done highs.
– Bass is unbelievable. I didn’t expect quality bass from standalone bar. You definitely wont need a sub in a small to medium size room.
If you like rightly done bass and not much overwhelming one, you will love these.
Music –
– Edifiers sound better than these for half the price. Its really hard to explain but there is something about good stereo music which you only realize once you hear it on good bookshelfs. Edifiers or HiFi Swans make me want to listen to music. Sonos just dont do it.
Misc –
– Trueplay didn’t do any magic for my room like other youtube reviewers say.
– Alexa works in India but you have to use VPN while setting up.
TlDR-
– Mostly movies usage – Go for sonos.
– 50% movies, 50% music – still go for sonos.
– >50% music usage – go for proper bookshelf speakers. With sonos you will like the music, with bookshelf speakers, you will love the music <3
Edit after 2 months: Added 2 one sl to the setup. Music and movies sound much better now. However instead of 2 one sl, I would recommend ikea symphonisk speaker as surrounds.
Improvement in sound is not 40k like. 2 Ikeas will be somewhere around 20k which is much much better deal especially if you only plan on using them as surrounds.
Coming to sound quality difference, 2 one sl and beam g2 fills the room easily. I have noticed improvement in bass as well as treble after adding these.
Sonos automatically upscales some content from normal 2 channel stereo to add ambient sound in surrounds and it does great job at it. You can also individually setup output of each surround.
Now just waiting for sub mini. Will update the review after I get those.

I was pleasantly surprised that Amazon.in offered the SONOS Arc on their website. This, arguably may be the first time. Additionally I was pleased that Appario is the seller. SONOS is one of the best known companies that manufacture exclusively audio equipment of very high quality. This is evidenced by the enormous popularity of their PLYBAR, SUBWOOFER and satellite speakers and they are very highly rated. I owned Playbar and subwoofer gen 2
Coming to ARC, this sound bar was introduced in mid 2020 by SONOS. The main intention is to offer the most popular and highly rated DOLBY ATMOS. The features of the sound bar are given on the website. I will only deal with positive as well problems that you are likely to encounter.
It comes with 110 to 220V power supply and hence no need for a stepdown transformer. Before installation download the SONO 2 app. from Google play. Make sure it is the one with brown color. Once you open the app and power the soundbar a green flashing light will appear and the app will recognize the arc and prompts you to press the infinity button located on the back of the sound bar. A steady white light is an indication that sound bar is ready for use. It has only one connection, HDMI, located opposite to power plug slot. HDMI cord is provided, and should be connected to the ARC of your TV. After connection, make sure the soundbar is connected to the HDMI arc of TV by using the app. TVs manufactured prior to 2015 will not connect easily. The newer ones with e-arc should easily connect. PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU WILL NEED THE NEW e-ARC outlet to make full use of the Dolby Atmos. If HDMI ARC is not available then connect the soundbar to optical input of TV using supplied HDMI to optical audio adapter.
Some tips: Though sound bar itself can function it is desirable to add subwoofer and two SONOS ones to serve as a high quality 5.1 system. Set soundbar to “speech enhancement mode” to avoid background thumping sound from some of the movies. Ensure regulated power is supplied by installing servo voltage stabilizers and smart plugs to avoid surge. SONOS equipment is expensive and they use high quality components to provide many years of trouble free service. Nonetheless problems can come. SONOS do not have a service facility in India and hence they do not carry any warranty. However they have an excellent customer care department and are willing to help if the equipment needs service.
SONOS cannot be used with older analog outputs using RCA cables. Adding converters is waste of money since they do not serve the purpose.
It is provided with only ONE HDMI. I wish they have provided at least two HDMI inputs and a separate optical connection instead of providing HDMI to optical converter
SONOS 2 app is more user friendly to apple devices than android.
Soundbar will become slightly warm after more than half an hour of usage. This is normal
The sound quality from sonos is excellent. It has very good bass and sound dispersion is unbeatable. It is sold for $799 in USA ( state tax not included )and 799 euros in Europe. SONOS products are seldom discounted. The price on amazon is nearly $1200. The price is acceptable considering the transport charges and customs duty. It is certainly not advisable to buy at a higher price than $1200.
I have given 5 star rating on the basis of the sound quality. To realize the full bass a sub must be added. I checked with and without sub. It makes an enormous difference. Using the app it is very easy to operate. The app allows numerous possibilities to adjust sound, both treble and bass can be adjusted, music in ”full” or “ambient” form can be chosen although the “full” is preferred especially for 5.1 system with satellites added.
There is no BLUE TOOTH connection, in my opinion a disadvantage especially to stream music. SONOS 2 will not allow accurate streaming of MP3 playlists from the music folder.
In India it is not possible to use Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant because these services are yet to be launched
I am also hoping SONOS will make the app more user friendly and certainly needs changes for streaming music using wifi
I sincerely hope that SONOS will soon add a service facility in India.
Review is after one week of use. Durability and technical problems can only be assessed after several months of usage
I am not an audio expert and hence has no competence to compare SONOS to BOSE. Both the companies offer equipment of high quality. BOSE products can be serviced in India.

Sound is just awesome.
Earlier i was scaptical about its wifi connectivity. I thought bluetooth is a must in any soundbar for ease. But after buying it i found out that wifi connectivity is superior over bluetooth.
With wifi, all home devices are connected to the sonos app. If it was bluetooth then at a time only one device could have connectivity, and if u want to connect other device then u would require to turn off bluetooth from previous device and then turn on bluetooth of second device and connect it.
With wifi any device can give a command it to play ur music, Without any hassle of disconnect and reconnect devices.

* Si tu TV no tiene Asistente Virtual tu beam puede prender, apagar, cambiar canal, controlar el volumen de tu TV.
* Incluye bastantes servicios de streaming de audio de paga y gratuitos.
* La posibilidad de crear tu propio ambiente auditivo en tu casa, agregando más bocinas y subwoofer y controlarlo desde ahí.
* Puedes incluso usar Spotify desde cualquier otro device aun que no sea la misma cuenta.
* AirPlay 2.
* Se conecta a tu red por medio de Wifi, así que para usar distintos devices con ella es necesario que estén en la misma red.
* Incluye un adaptador para cable óptico por si tu TV no tiene HDMI Arc.
* Incluye opciones para realzar la voz y escucha de noche para bajar el volumen de ruidos fuertes y elevar los más sutiles durante la noche para no molestar a tus vecinos.
* Se pueden tener 1 o más asistentes de voz a la vez.
* Detecta automáticamente el formato de salida del audio, incluido Dolby atmos!
Cons:
