None of the voice assistants (Alexa or Google) can be activated in India as this has not been allowed by Sonos yet in India. Thus, for people looking at this as a high quality ‘smart’ speaker, you will, unfortunately, have to look somewhere else.

The Sonos One Gen 2 has a great sound and I’m not going to comment on that since numerous reviews have covered it already. What I do want to caution about is the connectivity options (or the lack of). THIS ONLY CONNECTS OVER WIFI (and Ethernet cable, if you’re into that). There is no option to connect and play your music over bluetooth. While this means that on apps like Spotify and Apple Music, you will be able to use them as intended, you cannot use these to play any other audio or take calls from your phone.

There is a way to connect them to a Mac via Airplay 2 (it’ll need the latest Mac OSX) but even that is kind of buggy and it has a tendency to disconnect if you pause a video. I don’t think this pairs with a PC, so it might be something that you wanna research prior to purchasing.

Oh, and while it has the option to take voice commands, both services – Google Play and Amazon Alexa – are not yet enabled for India, so that part is completely useless for now. Hopefully that’ll change in the near future.

    SET UP:

Sound quality is great ( I am an average user ) and the product is easy to install – use this with my iPad and iPhone – connectivity is over iplay. Android users should check first if this works ( which I have no clue)

The only drawback is that SONOS is not ready yet to be integrated with Alexa – and Sonos is not willing to give a timeframe as to when this integration will happen

    My use case:
    Spotify…

Purchased already 2 back to back during independence sale for 20.3k. Sound quality is unmatched vs Bose aound link.

To get GA alexa up, configure router with vpn… selecting US server.

Easy to group speakers with voice command, without GA and Alexa still sonos voice assistant enables with standard commands.

Easy setup available in vpnbook sight.

This Sonos One is my 11th Sonos device! I have been a huge fan for the last 9 years, and have been collecting them since then. I am so thrilled to find most of them are now available on Amazon India, and at fairly reasonable prices (comparable if you import them, after paying duties and shipping)!

For those who can’t get Alexa to work in India, there is a work around that works just fine, and requires VPN momentarily, only to get the Sonos Skill in the Alexa app. VPN not required after the skill is set up.

I can access Apple Music, Tidal, Spotify, Pandora, and others, using the Alexa voice command. Just say ‘Play xxx from Apple Music (or Spotify etc.)’. NO VPN.

The One Gen 2 does NOT support bluetooth (only the Move and Roam do), but does support Airplay. Also, no hi-res HD music support. Yet.

I use Sonos everyday, across the home, have been for years, and I love the sound for the size/form-factor). Most importantly, the convenience of listening to ANY music, from anywhere, ANY time. Worth every penny I’ve invested in Sonos products!

Now just waiting for the Roam to show up…

Thank you Amazon India, and LP!

I had picked sonos one (gen 2) after doing substantial review with regards to the sound. The clarity of sound will not disappoint you. I however still found several other reasons to return the product. I am returning this and will go back to bose. The reason of returning Sonos is as follows.
    1. This is NOT a wireless speaker – It has a hard wire which will require you to plug your speaker to a wall bracket. In short this is not a portable speaker. That is what I was looking for.
    2. This is NOT a blutetooth speaker – You cannot stream music from any phone or devise. You can only stream from music across common internet connection. You can stream from a phone/ device have the sonos app. Alexa and google is not compatible in India . There are workaround i.e. VPN, if that is what you would want. Sonos voice assistance has limitation and not the same level as alexa or google. So in short does not work.
    3. NOT A FAMILY speaker. With my self travelling for work, and rest of my parent being fairly old, I dont see them using this. I find bose a far easier device for less tech savvy people. For the price, this is a waste as far as my needs are concerned. The description is misleading!

Super easy to connect to and the Spotify integration is great. The sound is good but not GREAT, but you shouldn’t expect great sound at this price point. For what it is, it is really good and i’m excited to add more products to my home.
