Using it for almost 3 years now, and it’s perfect. No visible deterioration. The cover has protected my kindle against falls and rough travels.
I’m usually a careless packer and a clumsy handler, so I drop it frequently, but my kindle has not sustained any damage.
The feel is still as new, I haven’t washed the cover, but I keep it cleaning with regular sneaker cleaner, and it looks brand new. No wear and tear of the text and the rubbery feel. Comfortable in holding as well. All in all, a good cover.

This is the “coffee” color case. I am making an effort to review it along with white balance/color temperature adjusted photos to accurately reflect its color because of how impressed I am with everything about it.
First, let’s address the elephant in the room – this case does not automatically lock/unlock the device when it’s opened or closed. If you can get past that this case is an absolute winner.
Gorgeous to look at and flawlessly crafted, the kindle fits perfectly in this case, it doesn’t come off even if you hold it upside down and shake it. When you want to remove it it’s not that hard to do, though my personal preference is a slightly tighter fit where the device is a little difficult to remove. The flap is magnetic and stays adhered to the device even when it’s held upside down.
The top flap is sturdy enough to prevent small objects being dropped on it from damaging the screen. It does have some flex so a heavy object would probably smash the screen. The rim and corners are hard plastic and should work well to protect the device from bumps.
The brown outer material has a soft tactile feel to it which makes it extremely pleasant to hold. The inner grey lining also has a pleasant, mildly rubbery feel to it. The flap edges while not rounded are not sharp enough to cause any real irritation. If you want to hold the grippy brown material over the kindle’s back notch (contour) while reading you can either keep the flap open and hold the flap with your left hand and the device with your right or you can double up the flap by folding it behind the device but you lose access to the brown grip on the kindle’s contour. You can still slide your fingers between the rear notch and the doubled up cover but it isn’t ideal. This is the way the device was designed so it isn’t the cover’s fault.
I almost cancelled the order after placing it and ordered the (IMO, *cough* less than aesthetically pleasing, official Amazon leather case) because I didn’t want to lose out on the auto-lock/unlock features but I’m so glad I did not. I am absolutely in love with this case. Having to press the lock/unlock button manually isn’t that big a deal and actually keeps me a bit more disciplined about taking short unnecessary breaks. The Kindle has an inbuilt sleep setting (10 minutes if I’m not mistaken) so it won’t drain your battery if you forget to lock it.
When you consider the price (I bought it for Rs.600 and something) it’s an absolute steal. Get it as your first case and you can always go for one with auto-locking down the line but you probably won’t because you’ll fall in love with this case. I’m not deducting any stars for the missing feature because it’s just that good.

It is a good product that I am using regularly despite the fact that the flip cover doesn’t close on the face of the Kindle reader snuggly. The back cover fits well and the Sleep mode switches on correctly. However, if you were to look at the Kindle from any of the angles, you will notice that there is a gap between the screen and the top cover, especially around the spine. Doesn’t hinder in any other way.

The cover serves the purpose of keeping the Kindle Oasis covered when not in use; lends it a thickness that’s more comfortable to hold than the bare Oasis (which is cold to touch and has slippery metal body) while reading; and make the Kindle look more like a book when kept on the desk.
The cover is very well-priced. It seems decently made, but may not withstand rough use. It may absorb light shocks, but not sure of protecting the Kindle from big drops. It fits well too and holds the Kindle snugly. The effort in putting it on is nominal. But I suggest against removing it often as that might loosen the grip eventually.
It has a fabric like look that resembles bindings of old tomes, enhancing the academic feel of the Kindle (you’d want as much differentiation from the tablet as you can to declutter yourself while reading). There’s a rubbery feel too which helps with the grip. But can’t say if the rubbery coating will wear off leaving a more cloth-like feel later.
I got the Dark Coffee colour, which to my eye, in daylight is more ‘olive’ – I like that better. At certain angles it looks more like coffee colour. The Dark Grey is also a nice choice that I was split between.
Some reviews suggest the Kindle doesn’t go to sleep when the cover is closed. But mine does. May be the alignment of the cover, if it changes (especially by folding it backwards regularly) I might face this limitation too. But then with bare Kindle Oasis one was used to switching it off with the button anyway. So no big deal. I cannot justify 4-5 times the price for the original Kindle Oasis cover which is in fabric (the leather is further costlier).
The only one con (small design flaw) I found in this cover is that the print on its face is upright only if you hold the Oasis in your right hand. But if you are right-handed like me, you’d like to keep your right-hand free for highlighting or other purposes and hence hold the Oasis in your left hand (with the bulged side which is always more convenient to hold). In which case the print on top of the cover would face downwards. It doesn’t affect the reason, but might seem odd to someone watching you from the other side, holding a book upside down. If you fold it back all the way, this won’t be an issue. But then when you lift the Kindle off the desk, you’d have to rotate it 180 degrees once before you start using it. This could have been avoided if the print were a symmetrical one which is possible with a geometric design, but not with the quote (letters) on it. Small thing, but one lapse on part of the designers who seem to have otherwise done a good job.
All in all, the Kindle Oasis is a one of its kind premium product for book lovers. And among the few options available for it, this cover is quite an all-rounder in that it makes your Oasis safe to store, easy to hold and good to look at. And at a price where you won’t mind it wearing off after a couple of years. I plan to stock a spare just for that eventuality.
Update: Feb 2024
The cover is going fine, no visible deterioration in looks or functioning after over 6-7 months of primarily indoor use.
I’d also like to report that I have modified the cover for my usage preference. I cut out the flap on the top, and am now using it just as a case, not cover. It yields a few advantages. Firstly,, a palpable reduction in weight, making the Kindle lighter for longer term reading. Then, the flap, when folded back has to be held with your finger, which I don’t need to now. And finally, but importantly, now the ridge on the back of the Oasis (a peculiarity of its design) is once more functional as I can hold the covered Oasis by the ridged case back and not the flat folded back flap anymore. It improves the grip tremendously while still not exposing to the metallic touch of the bare Oasis. The only disadvantage of this modification is that the Kindle, when not in use, has its screen exposed. I don’t mind that since I rarely read it outdoors. I can always toss it, along with the modded cover on inside a carry pouch meant for the Oasis (I have one). I knos this may not be to your liking, but just wanted to update on how u use it now.

It’s a nice cover for Kindle Oasis in an affordable range.

A good aesthetic case, however it lacks the promised magnetic lock.

The quality and finishing of the product is top notch at this price range. It’s a good buy for someone looking for a cheap but quality cover for their kindle oasis.
