Is it a professional grade scan? No. But it scans just as well as scanning the print of the negative on my flatbed scanner, only way easier.
My primary aim with this was digitising old negatives that we have prints for as a secure offsite backup and also scanning a stack of old 50mm slides.
It’s super easy to use and really quick as it essentially shines a light through the negative and takes a picture of it. You can then change the mode and import them via usb very easily.
The files come out at about 4mb each so probably could be compressed a bit more without much loss of quality.
But the scanning process is super simple and most importantly, quick!

This device is my pride and joy. I purchased it to digitize old film for clients, and it does an amazing job. The device is simple and easy to use, has a great resolution on the screen, and can fit many different sizes.
The only issue I’ve had is with the 35mm slide holder having too much space on the inserted end. I stuck a little piece of rolled tape to block the slide in place on one end, which helped. If there was a slide holder that had a plastic frame to hold the slide, I’d be over the moon.
While the pricepoint is on the higher end, it’s totally worth it!!!

OK so it does not “scan” anything, just so’s you know. It’s output is jpg files which is just fine for my purposes. It does a great job of colour slides, colour negative and black and white negative film, producing bright crisp images that pop quite nicely. The brightness adjust works well and I was able to correct numerous snow and sand shots from the 60’s ‘medium grey ‘ white of snow. So useful. Its quick and easy to use and switching from 35mm film to other film is easy. If I was picking nits, the film loading is a bit tricky especially when using the smaller film inserts. (+_50%) Slides are fine but I had some old slides with plastic shrouds that would not fit in the tray. Kodak slides and other paper slides work well, like 99%. Power consumption is minimal. Output to an SD card and it prefers the cards formatted to Ex-FAT.
All said and done, it does a great job. Highly recommended.
