Out of the box, using epson’s own scanner application is not very good. However it comes with Silverfast scanning app which gets much better results. It is very fast and gives lots of options. However the biggest problem is when you try to scan images that are bigger than the scanning flatbed. When you try to line them up in photoshop they are distorted. I tried three different scanning software; Epson Scansmart, SilverFast and Vuescan. Doesn’t make a difference you can’t get the images to line up. My artwork has a lot of very thin lines and when you compare the different scans using difference layers in p’shop the distortion is really obvious. I accept that an image might be slightly rotated but this is usually easily fixed. I can’t fix the problem no matter what I do. It’s like the one thing you hope a scanner will get right particularly one that is being sold as a professional option. VEry annoying very disappointing. UPDATE NOV 2020 Silverfast tech support advised me that all scanners suffer this distortion problem because of the particular way the step motors on a scanner work. Bit annoying but if that’s the case then I will add some stars for the image quality, speed and ease of use. It does great scans. p.s the cable picture is answering a question from a purchaser who wanted to know how they plug in.

Tried it and after a few days I returned it; one of the benefits of buying from Amazon direct. 1: Came with good software, which with some tinkering can correct some marks, dust and crap. Although you can get VueScan for £15 a month, or forever for £100.
and a lot of inserts for various formats (35mm negs, medium & large formats, etc) 2 sets of each in all, so in theory while the machine is scanning away you can load up the next batch. However, they are stiff, brittle-feeling plastic, and do not load/unload without feeling you’re going to break them at some point. They also seemed to be dust magnets… not good. 2. Didn’t like how these were laid on top of the scanner glass, with just a little notch to line them up. I mean, it kinda worked, but felt cheap for a machine pushing a grand. 3. Scan quality is actually, meh, okay. Effectively, the optical resolution maxes out at about 2000dpi—forgot their figures, pure BS. 4. If you REALLY need to scan formats larger than 35mm slides or negs, then you are limited for choice. On the other hand, if you are wanting to digitise standard stuff then the best advice I can give you is search the popular online portal for secondhand Nikon Coolscan. I picked up a V (optical 4000dpi, great infrared correction) for just over £300, and the difference is staggering. They don’t make them anymore, but you can get them in great nick with a range of extras if you look hard enough. TLDN: ONLY BUY THIS IF YOU WANT TO SCAN FORMATS BIGGER THAN 35mm

J’ai acheté cette Epson comme ‘reconditionné’ par Amazon. Le prix était environ 25% moins cher que l’offre neuf. Franchement, le produit fonctionne correctement, je ne vois pas de défaut extérieure, il est garanti par Amazon et j’en suis tres satisfait. Il est arrive avec une prise anglaise que j’ai remplace pour la somme de 2€. LA livraison de l’Écosse a durer trois jours (de memoire) en tout cas dans le delai annoncé.

Mauvaise surprise lors de l’ouverture du carton : la prise de courant du scanner reçu est à la norme anglaise, et non européenne (voir photos). Cette particularité n’était pas précisée dans la description du produit. Si Amazon pouvait avoir la bonne idée de me faire parvenir un cordon d’alimentation utilisable en France… D’avance merci.
Du coup, pas d’avis en terme d’utilisation du produit, qui n’a pas pu être utilisé (donc pour le moment, une seule étoile en attendant mieux…)
