Everything was working fine for a year, but just after a year of purchase the printer stopped working completely! It won’t even turn on! I’ve tried multiple things from the user manual, watched a couple of videos for resetting and followed instructions, etc. But nothing worked! It is too difficult to get in touch with the service center! I need to figure out a local guy to fix this now!
About the printer – Everything was as required. Just didn’t like the fact that the printer only has a 2.4GHz WiFi receiver. It won’t detect 5GHz WiFi signals. This is a huge downside for me.

The Brother HL-B2080DW Mono Laser Printer with Auto Duplex & Wi-Fi Printing is a great product, nice and simple to use. Have been using this extensively for few months now. A good to have printer at home where printing is not required on a frequent basis. Its quick to print and easy to connect once configured with wireless option. A great buy, highly recommended for people looking for monochrome laser printer for personal and office use. Go for it!

Did a lot of R&D, then finally landed up on this one. First decision one has to make is about the kind of printer to go for. Had been using an ink-jet printer for decades and it was forever a headache to use it. The ink always used to dry up or finish. After much deliberation decided to go for a monochrome laser printer. If one needs to print photos then go for ink-jet, but for people who need to print documents or anything B&W, laser is the way to go. There is little to no maintenance for a laser printer, moreover the toner doesn’t dry up (as it is a powder) as opposed to liquid ink. Even if you print after months, a laser printer will give you a perfect output.
Compared to ink-tank printers, a laser in terms of cost per page might come behind, but make no mistake, ink-tank printers are nothing but ink-jet printers, and the technology behind ink-jet is fundamentally a flawed one. With ink-jet you‘ll still have clogged printer heads, filled up ink-pads which absorbs discarded ink during cleaning etc. Plus, you’re dealing with liquid which in turn can cause numerous problems. Laser printers are hassle free. Ink-jet printers have a short lifespan. Laser on the other hand will last you at least a decade.
As for this particular printer, Brother-2080 uses a toner which is cheap (Rs. 900) and is readily available on Amazon. Moreover the drum unit and the toner are two separate entities (thus reducing the cost for replacement). This printer also supports Apple Air-Print which works seamlessly with iOS devices. Android devices work great too! In 2020 buying a printer with Wi-Fi is a MUST! The printer is fast, stylish (I like the 90s aesthetics), hassle free, has a large paper tray capacity (250 pages) which is covered, thus avoiding dust onto the paper and most importantly the wireless connectivity works flawlessly. These days a mobile phone does the work of a scanner and a photocopier, thus a dedicated scanner and photocopier for me becomes redundant. Though the best feature of this printer has to be the automatic duplex printing, it just saves on paper leading to 50% savings and is fast too.
If you’re looking for a no nonsense monochrome laser printer which gets the job done, then look no further. Brother HL-B2080DW is amongst all the manufacturers the best laser printer available under Rs.15,000. This printer is an absolute workhorse. Close your eyes and without any hesitation go for this one. Just make sure, after setting up the printer and wi-if, turn off the deep sleep mode (check YouTube for a tutorial) and you’ll be sorted.
PROS
1) Wireless Connectivity and Apple Air-Print! Once wireless is set up, it works fabulously without any drops in connection.
2) It’s FAST!
3) Hassle Free/Little to no maintenance required
4) Toner is very cheap (Rs. 900 for 2600 pages)
5) Automatic Duplex Printing
6) Good Printing Quality
7) Large capacity paper tray which is covered, helping in keeping the papers dust free.
8) The 90’s tech aesthetics. Don’t know why, but I find the printer very good looking
9) MADE IN VIETNAM/DESIGNED IN JAPAN (No Chinese Connection)
CONS
1) Setting up the wireless on this printer is bit of a chore, especially if you have a complex password.
2) Have to manually turn off deep sleep. It should come switched off by default.

I have researched a lot before finally buying this printer. I preferred laserjet over inkjet for its speed, cost effectiveness, hasslefree operation and size. In laserjets I could not find any printer that offers features that it does at this price.
Features I liked
– Auto Duplex Printing
– Wifi
– Print from Smart Phone
– Low cost cartridge
Comments – Setting up this device was super easy without running any CD / DVD. I set it up on 2 office laptops and a Mac. On iPhone you need nothing it just works.
One disappointment – I called up brother support for product demo and installation but they informed me that Since I purchased it from Amazon, support will be charged at Inr 700; for purchases done viz dealers demo is free.
Be aware of this fact before buying. However > SET UP WAS SUPER EASY < brother at your side

Man, I am very pleasantly surprised by this brand. Really never thought I’d purchase a printer from Brother. In fact, I was about to get HP’s Multifunction Printer costing round about 25k then I just came across this printer. All the reviews were very positive and that made me skeptical as to the veracity of such claims as too good to be true.
However, I did eventually end up buying this piece and I must say that it was a very good decision. First thing’s first, the print quality is simply outstanding. The printer itself is quite sophisticated to look at and has many useful options like the duplex printing capability where both sides of a paper sheet are automatically printed without the need to manually turn the pages around. I was about to go for the plain model in the series but fortunately bought this WiFi capable one. Works seamlessly with your phone which you can use as a scanner and then directly send the document to the printer via WiFi (WLAN) for printing. Besides the original toner (from Brother) for this printer come for about 850 bucks which is very reasonably priced and a bonus feature (Brother claims 2600 pages print yield from this, which is again insane!). Last but not the least, it’s a Japanese-designed stuff and made in Vietnam, so no Chinese connections.
In conclusion, this is a complete bang for the buck printer which is loaded with very practical and usable features and you too should give it a try. Thanks Amazon and the Seller!
