I have a wired and wireless network in my home like most people. I use a Netgear Orbi system for my wireless network and I use primarily Netgear Ethernet switches in my home. I utilize 7 switches throughout my network and Netgear switches work well and are extremely reliable. They are all rated at 1 Gb/s.
In my main area for Ethernet wiring and routing I used this 16 port switch rated at 1 Gigabit. I have a very fast Internet Service Provider rated at 1 Gigabit to my home. I get 1 Gigabit/sec downloading speeds and 250 Mb/s upload speeds.
This Netgear switch is directly connected to my ZYXEL router and it acts as the key switch that allows me to route my Ethernet connections to the network. It is working well and it is very easy to set up and use. I like that it has no fan in it as it is quiet in my office. The metal case is rugged and helps to dissipate heat.
The LED indicator lets you know if the Ethernet plug is working at 10, 100 or 1000 Mb/s and it indicates that the line is active. I liked that the power adapter mounts such that is only uses one plug on a power strip and it does not cover other plugs. The power adapter is rated at 12 volts at 1 amp and the switch is rated at 8.4 Watts power consumption. The unit comes with a 3 year Netgear warranty.

• An ORBI wireless hub with a separate Satellite station
• An Ubiquity wireless Access Point
• A digital projector streaming TV and movies on a 12 foot diagonal screen
• 3 digital recording video camera systems with 9 security cameras
The switch is well made and works well. I have had no problems with it. Based on my experience with Netgear, I do not expect to have any issues with this switch. I like it and I rated it at 5 stars.

I use two switches by Netgear (one 16-port + one 8 Port) and was a little bit skeptical with the product, but to my surprise, they worked very well and are passively cooled (no fans to make noise) which is very useful for my Unify Cloud Key, Unify USG Enterprise Firewall and Internet Gateway and Netgear combination network! They all run just fine and I love them and would highly recommend them to anyone on a tight budget looking to make some upgrades and don’t have much money these do the trick nicely! VERY HIGH PERFORMANCE DEVICES!
YOU WON’T REGRET GETTING THIS STUFF!

Compare un par de opciones y me decidà en particular por este modelo. Las principales razones fueron: facilidad de uso, calidad en el acabado, y tamaño.
La facilidad de uso es impresionante! No necesitas ser un experto en redes a ningún nivel. Solo abre la caja, conecta los cables ethernet como se indica en un diagrama muy básico, conecta el equipo a la corriente eléctrica y empieza usarlo. Asi de simple.
La calidad del equipo es muy buena, viene en un “enclosure” metálico, con 16 puertos de alta velocidad de transferencia y con muy buenos indicadores visuales.
Por ultimo, el tamaño. No estorba, no hace ruido y se ve super profesional para dar ese toque tipo “Data Center” en tu casa, o pequeña oficina.

Very sturdy metal casing/design which is great once you have a bunch of cables connected to it which may pull it one way or another. Works well, fast connections.
*FYI, not covered in the documentation and maybe obvious to pros but you cannot plug-in any Ethernet cables that are connected to slower Megabit devices in sequence before any Gigabit cables/devices. Plug in all gigabit speed Ethernet cables into ports and then plug in the megabit cables after.
