Earlier i was using unmanaged switches, they worked fine for some time and then randomy stopped giving internet connection to devices. Trying to figure out if router is at fault or switch, by disconnecting cables from switch and connecting router to laptop was always not possible for not so tech savy persons at home. This time i thought to buy a managed switch so that if devices are not getting internet, it’s easier to diagnose issues (remotely)even when you are not at home. I supposed it to be plug and play on first attempt by obtaining ip from routers dhcp but it was not. I had to tweak some settings and now it is working fine.
