My new laptop did not come with an optical drive. This HP external drive is a perfect addition.
I subtracted 1 star because the shipping box was torn open when I received it. Did I mention that the price of this drive on Amazon is about 1/3 of the price on the HP website.

Excellent performance with very low noise.

Unbelievably an external PC component comes with no cord. How are you supposed to use it with no cord?
Probably send it back because have no idea what cord to buy. The connection on the drive is nothing I have ever seen.

I recently added the HP F6V97AA#ACJ External USB DVD-RW Drive to my tech toolkit, and it has been a fantastic addition. This drive combines convenience, functionality, and solid performance, making it a valuable accessory for both work and personal use. Here’s why I highly recommend it:
Key Features:
Plug-and-Play Simplicity: The drive is incredibly easy to set up. I simply connected it to my laptop’s USB port, and it was ready to use immediately. There’s no need for additional drivers or software installation. It’s perfect for users who want a hassle-free experience right out of the box.
Versatile Functionality: This drive supports both reading and writing of CDs and DVDs, covering a wide range of media formats. Whether I’m burning music CDs, backing up important data, or watching DVDs, it handles all tasks smoothly and efficiently.
Portable and Lightweight Design: The HP external drive is compact and lightweight, making it easy to carry around. It fits nicely in my laptop bag without adding much bulk, which is ideal for on-the-go use. Whether I’m traveling for work or moving between rooms at home, it’s a convenient companion.
Sleek and Stylish Appearance: The drive has a sleek, modern design that matches well with my other HP devices. The smooth finish and minimalist look make it an attractive addition to my desk setup.
Reliable Performance: In terms of performance, the drive is consistently reliable. It reads and writes discs quickly and quietly. I haven’t encountered any errors or issues during use, and it handles various tasks without any hiccups.
USB-Powered Convenience: The drive is powered via USB, eliminating the need for an additional power supply. This is a major plus, especially for users who want a clean and clutter-free setup. Just plug it into your laptop or desktop, and it’s ready to go.
Considerations:
No Blu-ray Support: This drive doesn’t support Blu-ray discs, which isn’t a deal-breaker for me but could be for those who need to work with Blu-ray media. For basic CD and DVD tasks, it’s perfect, but if you require Blu-ray functionality, you’ll need a different drive.
Single USB Port Usage: It uses a single USB port for both data transfer and power, which is efficient. However, if you have limited USB ports or need multiple devices connected simultaneously, you might need to use a USB hub.
Overall Impression:
The HP F6V97AA#ACJ External USB DVD-RW Drive is an excellent choice for anyone needing a reliable, portable, and easy-to-use external drive. It’s particularly useful for those with newer laptops that lack built-in optical drives or anyone who needs to handle discs occasionally. Its combination of sleek design, dependable performance, and straightforward setup makes it a standout option in its category.
Highly recommended for both everyday use and specific tasks requiring CD/DVD capabilities!

I recently purchased this External USB DVD-RW Drive and I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. The device works flawlessly on my Windows PC without any hiccups or complications. I was in need of an external CD/DVD drive as my computer did not have an inbuilt one, and this product has exceeded my expectations.
One of the main reasons I decided to purchase this drive was because I had many old CDs that contained precious memories from my childhood. I was worried that I would not be able to access them anymore since my computer did not have a CD drive. However, this external drive has allowed me to access my old CDs with ease and brought back a wave of nostalgia.
One thing to note about this HP External USB DVD-RW Drive is that the price can fluctuate quite a bit, so it’s important to check the previous price before placing an order. I actually went to an offline store in my city and they asked me for a whopping 2100rs for this exact same model, which was quite a shock! Buying from Amazon turned out to be much cheaper for me.
I received my order within just 3 days of placing it, which was a pleasant surprise. All in all, I would definitely recommend this product, just make sure to keep an eye on the price and consider purchasing it from Amazon to get the best deal.
Thank you.

The advertised inclusion of software was a key factor in the purchase decision; however, this software was not included as promised. Consequently, I must now procure the software separately, potentially at a cost exceeding that of the drive itself.
