It read only some of the CDs I have and could not read any DVD. I ended up returning the DVD Drive.

I have a few dozen DVDs that I cannot find in streaming services, and hundreds of CDs. Despite also having streaming services, I sometimes like to listen to something from my collection while I’m working, but my laptop does not have a built in player.

This is an inexpensive solution that works well for that purpose. The only thing is that this will not play DVDs through Windows Media Player if you are using Windows 10 OS as I am. I had to download the free app, VLC Media Player and then it worked fine. CDs play with Windows Media – not set up required.

This external DVD drive works great. It’s definitely plug and play, I needed it to check out a bunch of DVDs that I had and didn’t know what was burned on them. Highly recommended.

Just got it and used a few times the first day. Was easily able to transfer files from disc to my PC. Jpeg files, MP4 files, AVI files, MP3 files and even DVD files (not encrypted). All with no issues. I bought this to access files on disc as my desktop has no optical drive. I do not intend on making discs/burning but tested it anyways and it worked fine for all the above mentioned file types. Seems sturdy build although plastic. Others have said it is noisy. However, mine is very quiet. Question is, how long will it last? I bought it for about $21CDN incl taxes. Well worth the money. Bang for the buck. Does exactly what I wanted it to do.
