2台所有し、いずれもパスワードをかけてバックアップ用に使用。うち1台で、接続してしばらくは問題なく使えるのに、ランプが点滅し続けて反応がスローダウンする現象が発生。WD Drive Utilities のドライブテストも不合格となるため、メーカーサポートに連絡して交換。
交換品は、あらかじめ WD Drive Utilities のドライブテストをすべてクリアすることを確認して使用を開始。
ところがその交換品でも同じ現象が発生。
そこで試しに WD Drive Utilities で「ドライブ消去」を行っていったんデータを空にすると現象は出なくなり、再度データを入れると、その後は問題が出ていない。
いったい何だったのか‥‥。
現在、一抹の不安がありつつも、普通に使えている。

これまで使用していたWDのElementsの調子が悪くなったために買い替え。
画像を見ればわかる通りElementsより微妙に小さく、薄い。
無骨なElementsに比べるとスマートなデザイン。
読み出し書き込みも早く、使いやすい。
WDのサポートからセキュリティソフト、バックアップソフト等もDLできて便利。
ただ一点だけ、付属のUSBケーブルは作りがあまりよくなく、PCやHDDに接続した感じが何となく緩い。
接続不良によるデータの損傷は嫌なので、1000円ちょっとのエレコムのUSBケーブルを買い足した。
それ以外は概ね満足。
配送時に精密機器の一種であるにもかかわらず、茶封筒ではないけれど、箱には入ってこなくて少し驚いた。

これまで20ぐらい購入してきましたが、保証期間内に壊れたことはない。以前あったモデルのグリーンは微妙でしたが、それは現在は存在しない。
このポータブルは小さくて持ち運びに優れている。パスワードロックを設定できるので安心。
パスワード設定は「WD Security」を使用するPCにインストールする必要があります。

パスワードでロックするには専用ソフトをインストールする必要がありますが、製品に入っているソフトは使えません。WDのサイトのサポートからダウンロードする必要があります。

I love this Hard disk it’s quite compact and easy to use. I have kept my data on this disk have not got any issues regarding data corruption or any other issues so far. It also have a feature to encrypt the disk with password which tightens the data security.

Hard disk stopped working within 6 months of use. Customer care said that it is replaceable but what about the important data? No recovery service available through the company itself.

レビューを読むと5TBは耐久性がよろしくなさそうなのが不安ではありましたが。
