I am not a gamer. I just bought for my software purpose like MATLAB & Python and programming. This processor on msi b460m-a pro runs so smooth with wd 500gb ssd. It turns on within 3-5 seconds. Earlier it took 10min to 1hr to open my Matlab on pentium core 2 duo. But on this it starts within 10 seconds. What an improvement. Highly recommend for students and academic works.

Great value for money, but the stock chooler is inadequate, please buy a tower cooler to get the most out of this, it will get insanely hot if you don’t get a good aftermarket cooler. Any time it hits 100% usage the temperature gets about 85°C and then thermal throttles.

Amazing CPU for the price if you mainly like to game on your pc. this is the best value processor in the market right now.
Ryzen 5 3600 processor is overpriced right now and not worth that price premium.
Just get an z490 and 4000mhz ram and see high fps gaming on budget.
I am using msi z490 a pro and hyperx predator ram.

It’s a major step up from my i3 9400F, really loving the performance jumps between generations as the competition from AMD heats up. No thermal issues, but I am using an AIO cooler with 120mm radiator, so that’s expected. I don’t think I’ve seen it go above 50°C.

At one point in time this was one of the best budget processors you could get along with the 10400f, which was back in 2020 to 2021. We’ve moved past that era but this CPU can still hold its own.
The i5-10400 non-F at least comes with integrated Graphics, which can be useful at times.
I bought this to test a couple questionable lga1200 motherboards. The reason I picked the i5-10400 over the i3-10100 and i5-10-400f is because the price wasn’t all that much higher than the i3 and this one comes with the iGPU. With the iGPU, I don’t have to hook up a Graphics card to test a motherboard.
Would I buy one of these for a budget build today? No, I wouldn’t. The only way I’d think of it is if I already have an lga1200 motherboard. Otherwise I would go with a newer 6-core processor which can usually be found for a similar price. I’d avoid 10th and 11th Gen processors, unless I had no other choice.
The stock cooler? No, I would not use that either. Intel should have included the stock cooler that has a copper base, and it would help if they used a beefier cooler to that is screw mounted. In the past, my side hustle was buying broken gaming PCs, and a number of those broken PCs had an Intel stock cooler that had become dislodged.

I recently purchased the Intel Core i5-10400 for my virtual machine servers, and I must say I’m thoroughly impressed. One of the standout features for me is the integrated graphics, which works flawlessly and allows me to save on additional graphics cards.
But what really impressed me is the temperature management. Even under heavy loads, the temps remain well within reasonable limits. And it’s great that Intel has included a cooler with some thermal paste, making installation a breeze.
Overall, I would highly recommend the Intel Core i5-10400 for anyone looking for a reliable processor that can handle a variety of tasks. Whether you’re a gamer or a business user, this CPU is definitely worth considering.
