I upgraded my Threadripper 2950x with this 7950x and I’m impressed with the overall performance increase, particularly in the single core performance. I pulled the trigger on this instead of waiting for Threadripper 7000, or for more specific info on Sapphire Rapids because the 7950x offers almost everything I was looking for.
It would be nice to have 4x or 8x ram channels but I find that ddr5 offers a lot of performance on only 2 channels. It would also be nice to populate all 4 ram slots for a full 128 gb, but I’ll maybe upgrade to the next gen CPU in the hopes of a better memory controller that can handle higher speed ram when all 4 slots are populated.
It would also be nice to have the extra pcie lanes that you get with HEDT/WS platforms, but I was able to find a nice board that does all that I need; and most of what I want. Specifically I wanted at minimum one pcie 5.0 X 16 slot and two pcie 5.0 nvme X 4 lanes direct to the CPU without borrowing lanes from the X16 slot or anywhere else. I found that easy enough. Anyway, the chipset i/o on the x670e boards are pretty nice and for my purposes I don’t expect to see much bottle-necking on the devices I connected through the chipset.
Overall this chip, and the overall platform, is solid and will hopefully be upgradeable to the 8000 and 9000 series processors when available for even better performance and memory support (I would have given 5 stars if I could run 4 sticks of ram at 6000 mt/s)

This cpu is a monster. Nothing seem to be out of it reach. Running pretty high in temperature, will go to 95 degree celsius under full load, wich is normal on this gen. Using it whit a 360mm AIO. My CPU boost up to 5,85GHz wich is very impressing for a stock cpu.

Definitivamente no lo recomiendo si tu intención es dejarlo de stock, mejor compra un 3D en ese caso

Ho approfittato di un ottima offerta di Amazon warehouse di usato come nuovo e sono riuscito a prendere il processore top di gamma Amd a poco meno di 600€. La confezione era integra e il processore era al suo interno ben confezionato. Il processore è clamoroso nelle prestazioni. Le temperature che raggiunge sono alte, c’è ben poco da fare. Che tu abbia un dissipatore 280 o 360 raggiungerà sotto sforzo i 90°. Tale temperatura l’ha raggiunta solo durante i famosi test sintetici, nel giocare o nel lavorare non si arriva mai a così tanto. Perciò lo consiglio se trovato al giusto prezzo. P.s. Dopo l’ultimo aggiornamento del BIOS la situazione temperatura è sensibilmente migliorata.

Compré esta CPU por motivos de productividad y juego casual.
El rendimiento hasta ahora ha sido excelente. Estaba un poco preocupado por el enfriamiento, pero logré obtener buenas temperaturas con un enfriador de aire Noctua NH-D15 sin modificar nada en el BIOS.
