I had 8gb ddr4 2666Mhz by SK hynix on my laptop. I chose the ram with same frequency and voltage but 16GB size. Now the total memory is 24GB and rams are working in dual mode. Till now no stability issues and I can run 2 IDEs with applications running in them and many chrome tabs without any lag. Definitely a good upgrade, don’t worry about mixing of rams, it totally works and performance is better than single 8gb ram which is why upgrade was needed in the first place.
