With this product and suggested software, we were able to stream video successfully. I am a hobby streamer and the product met its objectives

This thing is pretty awesome honestly. It just works with no real game breaking problems, though you will need to use OBS or something similar to get it going.
Expect compression artifacts though, especially in dark areas. The raw signal has artifacts that can be seen in the live feed which if your streaming will be compressed a second time. Double compression is never good and can potentially look pretty bad.
I’ve noticed some hitching too, like a duplicated frame or two every second. Audio is slightly out of sync with video and there is some noticeable input lag (probably expected).
I’d give this thing fewer stars but it’s just so dang cheap that the issues are easy enough to overlook.

I bought this so I could own my movies but the stupid device does not even work. I wasted time and setup and record time so that I could find out this just lags. It randomly hiccups which takes away from recording quality.

the build quality is robust, and easy to use, plug and open OBS studio select video cature card and done you can up or down scale the quality as per your need, the picture quality is good but lags some color depth, For price its good and value for money, will see if it really worth every penny after months use.

As I purchased yesterday, I found it works well and give definitely 1080 pixel of video resolution. Nice products to convert hd pics to videos.

well i have tried this on my ps2, laptop and even my phone for recording and its really great the video sometimes lag when recoding fast stuff like games but the thing is it works fine on other stuff like i recorded tutorials for youtube and it worked really fine, if your system lags while recording the screen using obs well just use this and otg to connect this with your phone and record your laptop screen in your phone this saves the resources alot

I wanted the simplest way to display my Nintendo Switch gameplay off of my laptop screen, and this generic HDMI video capture card does the job.
By following the user manual, I connected my Switch console (with its HDMI cord) to the video capture card, which was plugged into my laptop’s USB port.
The manual also had instructions about “OBS”, which I was confused with since it didn’t say it was a video capture software that needed to be downloaded – I figured this out from looking at the Amazon.com product listing images. I did get OBS but only after trying out VLC media player that I already had. Here are my results with screenshot photos of my fav Twitch streamer (FYI Twitch.tv is downloadable on Nintendo Switch):
– In VLC through “Media > Open Capture Card…”, I was able to display gameplay with sound, but my view was a tad pixelated and blurry no matter what size I selected through “Video > Aspect Ratio”. I’m not a techie person, and since I couldn’t easily find a solution online, I gave up on VLC.
– The manual wasn’t detailed enough about how to use OBS, so I followed a Twitch streamer’s YouTube video. Turns out there are a lot of steps (more than VLC), but I didn’t get too lost, and in the end, the gameplay display looks great! I even linked OBS to my Twitch account – so if I get the right mic and am a better gamer, who knows but I could start streaming too 🙂
BTW, the video capture card gets pretty warm when in use, but that’s not a surprise.
