I was a bit skeptical about modern sound cards, but I got this for an HTPC to check it out (it comes with a small form factor bracket that’s easy enough to install). At first, I only tried the digital optical TOSLINK port, which did sound better, but only marginally. My advice is to stick to analog if possible, the effect is much more apparent, even to my relatively insensitive ears. Audio is much richer sounding than without it and will definitely improve a home audio system!
Linux support is acceptable, I couldn’t get the front panel header to work, but that might just be my HTPC distro or a configuration error on my end.

i got this for my gaming PC. i remembered what a difference a cheap sound card can make from my old gaming PC so i picked this up. the advantage is that the onboard sound youre probably using is eating up CPU cycles to process the sound. this is a processor for the sound so your main CPU doesnt have to fuss with it, like your discrete GPU. all i did was plug in this card, install drivers from site. then i ran CSGO benchmark map and 3DMark. i got a +45 FPS boost in CSGO and an extra 100 pts in 3DMark. the FPS boost probably wont be as much in more graphic intensive games, but it proves that there is a gaming performance boost. if you have a lower powered CPU a sound card is a good way to get more gaming juice out of it.

also, it makes things sound better too! how much better depends on what you were using before but for the price you cant go wrong with the gaming boost alone, so even i minor sound improvement is all bonus. i recommend discrete sound cards and NICs to everyone who wants a cheap hardware boost to their gaming rig.

I had heaps of issues with Creative X-Fi Fatality drivers in Windows 10, but this card worked straight out of box.

Sound quality seems good. Only issue is its not 7.1

I also have a creative soundblaster vx 5.1 but this one sounds naturally better (also because of the 24bit/192Khz option). Also it is louder in headphone setting than speakers setting because of the amp. There are three settings (low/mid/high) for the headphone amplifier output. My 50watt speakers are loudest so far due to the amp output. You can go for it, its the best sound card in budget.

The sound quality is very good you can hear every footstep. I brought this because after long use my HyperX fury headphones sounds got very slow so I used it as a solution rather than buying a new headphone of same price. It would be better if it is priced under 2500.

Do not buy this product. They are selling warranty expired product. My card’s SPDIF stopped working within 15 months of buying the card. The ASUS acrd used to have 3 years of warranty. When I registered the card with ASUS, it was showing the card as expired , with the expired date even prior to purchase date !!

Good for headphones but not supported on 5.1 home theater. Produces weird sound on my 5.1. I want to return but this item says cannot return per Amazon policy. Better try creative ones. They sent a defective one and just got it replaced after a month and it worked amazingly.
