Tal vez sea la mejor opción entre los SSD económicos de formato SATA 2.5″. En las webs de benchmarks lo ponen muy por encima de las líneas económicas de marcas pioneras que compiten en su misma gama de precios. Y después de llevarme un chasco al probar uno de la línea barata de una primera marca, decidí probar este Gigabyte por ser una marca de primer nivel en informática, aunque los discos duros sean nuevos en su catálogo. El disco llegó impecable, como siempre con Amazon, con cero horas de uso y cero arranques, sin particionar, como es habitual. Utilicé mi programa habitual de clonado (Gigabyte no ofrece ninguno en su web) y en pocos minutos estaba clonado. Las velocidades supieran incluso a las ofrecidas como referencia por el fabricante (ver foto). Y una cosa que es imprescindible para mi: la velocidad no baja al calentarse el disco, se mantienen estables. Tal vez por una sencilla razón: el disco no se calienta (y eso que el cuerpo es de plástico). Una nota al margen aquí es que no confío en la lectura de temperatura que da el disco, ya que está clavada en 33°C sin importar que le estés metiendo caña. Nunca la vi moverse de 33. Pero no se calienta porque lo tocaba con la mano y siempre estaba frío, al contrario del que devolví, de otra marca, que ardía al tocarlo (se ponía a 80°C según el sensor interno) Ya con eso me conquistó, temperatura estable. Y las velocidades excelentes. Después de un uso normal estoy contento con su desempeño general, tanto en modo SATA 3 como en modo SATA 2 (lo probé en una máquina vieja y va de lujo también, por si alguien tenía dudas de su retrocompatibilidad). Y después de varios movimientos de archivos de 25GB de tamaño también me satisfizo su resultado (escribía a velocidad constante, de principio a fin, a 492MB/s) La construcción es económica, de plástico, con pequeñas roscas metálicas para sujetarlo al chasis de tu máquina. Viene en una caja de cartón (ver foto) bien presentada, y protegido por un blister plástico en su interior. Un pequeño certificado de garantía y nada más, como es habitual. Un punto flaco (por eso no le doy 5 estrellas) es el software de administración que se descarga de la web de Gigabyte: es mínimo, muy mínimo en su funcionalidad. Prácticamente inútil, sólo nos permite hacer Trim y nos da los datos SMART del disco. Nada más… El software de Western Digital o Crucial le dan mil vueltas. Espero que lo mejoren. Tampoco ofrece comprobar si hay alguna actualización de firmware. Está por comprobarse la durabilidad y fiabilidad de este disco, pero dudo que un producto que lleve la marca de Gigabyte sea nada menos que muy bueno. Si lo opinión cambia con el tiempo actualizaré esta reseña.

I’m not a computer fanatic. I’ve very little knowledge regarding computers. In the year 2012 I was searching for a laptop that would serve my basic purpose which could atleast work good for almost 10 years. My mama helped me in getting the best laptop at that time. The laptop served my purpose well for 7 years without any problem. After that it became very slow, it would take 10 minutes just to boot up. I thought the laptop’s age got over. I informed the same to my mama, he said everything is fine with the laptop, you just need to change the HD to SSD. He also said over the time that the HD losses it’s capability and hence it becomes slow. The problem with most of us common people is we think that laptop’s age is over as it becomes slow. Only those who have knowledge about computers will understand the problem. I had almost decided to sell the laptop. My mama recommended this product. He himself installed it. It’s so easy to install, if you know the process of how to and know how to open the laptop. OMG, after the installation of this and windows 10, the laptop has become freaking fast. Now it boots up in 40 seconds, mine is a i5 processor. And I highly recommend this product. I now believe my laptop will work fine for the next 7-8 years. 5 stars to the product⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Bought this drive to upgrade an older laptop which had an old hard drve fitted. Didn’t want an expensive SSD due to the age of the laptop. This drive is made to the same standard as almost all of the modern alternatives. The drive was easy to format, once placed in the laptop and the operating system installed without issues. I noticed a significant improvement from the old drive and it has given the laptop a new lease of life. The laptop has been in daily use since this drive has been installed and it’s performing as well as much more expensive SSD drives, so happy enough to recommend it as both a replacement for old Hard drives and as a medium for storage of data ( in an external case). * Amazon has loads of cases which take this type of drive and it makes data storage cheap and straightforward.

I recently upgraded my laptop’s storage from an HDD to a Gigabyte SSD and have noticed a significant increase in booting speed. It now loads within 30 seconds. Additionally, I am now able to seamlessly use my Bluetooth headset with my laptop, and the WhatsApp Windows app, which was not previously working, is now functional. I highly recommend upgrading from an HDD to an SSD.
