The product is very good and easy to use. Please note that you may not be able to set it as a boot priority device as it may not show up on ‘Device priority Menu’ on BIOS screen. So, if you want to clone you OS to your SSD; first use your SSD on this caddy and boot your system from HDD(as before). The SSD will show up as additional drive. After cloning, replace your HDD with your SSD and then only use your HDD on this caddy.
I swapped the HDD with SSD first and when tried to boot from the HDD on this caddy. it wasn’t showing up on boot priority menu. So I was little worried till I observed the problem. (Note that this issue may not show up on all laptops. I have written this review to help those who face this issue). Thanks.

I am writing the honest review after struggling with it for more then a year after finding out the root cause.
Cons 1- Very slow transfer rate – You put any HDD or SSD on this but result is same you wont get read and write speed it’s close to 0kbps or max 350 kbps. I have done all testing before commenting here. I have 2 HDD and 1 SSD. Out of 2 HDD 1 is having high buffer rate which has high transfer speed and other one is normal HDD. I am having HP-15af114au laptop model. Initial I thought slowness is due to old HDD so I ordered new WD-1tb laptop harddrive. For very small period of time it worked perfect but suddenly it becomes slow for no reason. Transferring filed took days. I kept my laptop on for 2 days to transfer 10 GB data. I thought my laptop have issue in terms of bus speed or may be it’s doesn’t have 2 full SATA port. But when i checked all specs using sis sandra software its shows both SATA port support full speed and SATA III. I tried changing switch which is available in the Caddy but no help. Finally I have ordered external casing and put my new and old drive into that volla the transfer speed is superb on USB 3.0 . It’s clearly visible that the caddy is the root cause of slowness. You will find similar reviews here itself which was mentioned by other users as well. These companies are hiding this issue just to sale there product like a life changing solution but it’s not. May be the issue could be with HP but it’s there. I will soon publish my detailed review soon on youtube with all speed comparison and screenshots.

Product fits well with in my laptops Optical CD bay. Works as described but very disappointed by the quality of finishing. Material used is very good but finishing of the product on edges, screws etc are very bad. Thought of returning it but somehow managed to keep it thinking it would take long to get a replacement.

UPDATE: The screws backed out of the drive caddy and it got stuck in my Thinkpad. I had to disassemble my laptop and destroy the caddy to get it out. Also, no clue what that little switch does…

The media could not be loaded.
This product does what it says. The installation was easy. The only part I struggled with was installing the plastic lid of my laptops DVD drive on this one, but that was my mistake until I found the right way to fix it. My laptop is a sony Vaio Fit 15 ( SVF15319SN ) After fiddling around for a while with that plastic part, I found it fitting perfectly when installed properly. But the only thing I’m concerned about is that the DVD drive in my laptop has this 1 screw to hold it tight in space. But in the case of this caddy, it doesn’t have that screw hole extension to hold it in place. The fit is perfect and tight, also the sata port connects fine, so I hope it won’t slip out of the laptop without pulling it out intentionally. Anyway, this is working fine and as I replaced my hdd with ssd before, I was limited to 512gb of storage. This 1tb hdd was useless since then. Now, I can finally use it. Great product. The build quality is fine and better than expected.
