Seagate Pipeline 1 TB Desktop Internal Hard Drive (ST1000VM002)

The TV channels for my home arrive via DISH satellite service. Having recently added a receiver for my newly-purchased TV, I wanted to take advantage of the receiver’s video (DVR) recording capabilities. To do that, I needed to install an external, self-powered USB hard drive. Most of the already-configured, USB plug-in hard drive offerings were priced between $90 and $100, but I was able to buy this hard drive and a self-powered USB enclosure for it from Amazon for about half that amount ($45.87).

After installing this hard drive into my ORICO Toolfree USB 3.0 to SATA External 3.5 Hard Drive Enclosure Case for 3.5 SATA HDD and SSD [Support UASP and 12TB Drives], plugging the self-powered enclosure into the USB port of my satellite receiver and rebooting the receiver, this drive was automatically configured and formatted. The DVR capabilities of my receiver now work quietly and flawlessly. This hard-drive’s 1TB of storage provides me with all the recording capacity that I need with the same HD resolution offered by the receiver.

I bought this hard disk in 2017. It worked good but last month it got noisy and also it did not work properly. Few weeks earlier this hhd got dead.

I was a bit leery about which HD would replace the defective one in my 9400 Receiver, although after reading some of the reviews on here I ordered this model. It was very easy to install & worked right away 🙂

Dopo tentennamenti ho deciso di acquistare questo HDD per fare il backup del backup su un pc desktop. Il prezzo mi sembrava veramente troppo basso ma poi mi son fidato.
Anno di produzione 2015, pagato 33 euro. Collegato con Sata 600 su scheda madre. 5900giri. 932GB liberi. Molto leggero (ha solo un piatto). Partizionato in gestione dischi e messo “sotto” coi vari crystaldisk mark ed altri software di bench. Il disco non ha nessun settore danneggiato e zero avvii e zero ore d’utilizzo (è nuovo). Veloce nella copia files (circa 190/200MB al secondo da SSD a HDD, velocità stabile nel tempo) e sopratutto silenziosissimo: non ho mai “sentito” un hard disk così silenzioso in 25 anni di informatica. Per quello che l’ho pagato è stra-consigliato.
Non ho ben capito la differenza fra questo ed uno skyhawk della Segate (ben più costosi), le info sono un pò frammentarie nello stesso sito Seagate, ma posso affermare che con test reali sul campo questo disco è una bomba. Lo sto usando come archivio secondario nonostante sia nato per altri usi. Sono molto soddisfatto.
