Ever since buying my new Dell XPS 8500, I had no success getting my old war horse printer: HP Laserjet 5P, to work with a USB/Parallel cable. It was sad to find no familiar built-in parallel interface, that was part of every PC I had owned for 30 years. After spending many frustrating hours searching for tips and user group hints, I gave up in frustration and planned to buy a current model. The bullet proof, great performing, 5P sat in a corner gathering dust. Browsing Amazon computer accessories one day, I came across a variety of Parallel Port cards. For under $25 what could I loose? It arrived, was easily installed and within minutes my Laserjet from the 90’s rejoined my office!

I bought this card for a Dell Inspiron 530 running Windows 7 32bit. This setup is used to run my 3040 CNC Router through the Mach3 controller. It installed without a glitch and the Mach3/CNC Router is running great.
When installing the driver for Win 7 using the supplied CD, navigate to the “\PCIe\OXPCIe952” directory then run “setup.exe”. This will setup the driver for either 32 or 64 bit.
WINDOWS 7 32BIT SETUP: 1) – After installing the driver, click the Windows button then type “device manager” then select “device manager” from the list. 2) – Select “Ports (COM & LPT)” within the Device Manager screen. 3) – Right click the “PCI Express ECP Parallel Port” then select “properties”. 4) – Select the “Port Setting” TAB. 5) – Select “LPT1” from the drop down list. Mine was set to “LPT3”. 6) – Select the “Resources” TAB and write down the first “I/O Range” in the list, mine is set to CF00-CF07.
MACH3 SETUP: 1) – In MACH3 select “Config” then “Ports and Pins”. 2) – Select the “Port Setup and Axis Selection” TAB. 3) – In the “Port #1” section enter the Parallel port address, I entered 0xCF00 for my setup.
