    25″ Review

Let me start by saying this is the best monitor I have ever owned. The colours and depths of this monitor bring games to life so much that im playing games I’ve not touched in years because they feel so refreshed.

The Matt finish on the display is flawless and the picture is sharp and clear without any glare. I don’t have the best eye sight and my eyes get tired rather easily when staring at a screen for long periods of time, however, with the crystal clear clarity of this monitor and it’s gentle backlighting, those problems are non existent.

Onto the wide screen aspect. The monitor runs at 2560x1080p resolution. 21:9 ultra widescreen as opposed to the standard 1920×1080 16:9 widescreen. This lets you have alot more horizontal screen space. For games that natively support this, its a game changer. I play alot of mmorpg’s, currently im playing Final Fantasy XIV Realm Reborn and Guild Wars 2. Both games support this resolution and look superb, after having the extra visibility and more screen space to assign hot bars, extra chat boxes etc, without cluttering up screen space yet STILL being able to see so much more and it feeling more immersive, I really couldn’t go back to a normal monitor. If your an mmo gamer then this is the monitor for you. Playing world boss events or world vs world on guild wars 2, or large raids on realm reborn are a delight when you can see so much more of what’s going on.

Other games also benefit immensely from the extra screen space, from having the extra field of view to see enemies In battlefield or call of duty, to fitting more units on your screen in age of empires 2 HD, even rocket league benefits from being able to see a larger play area at one time and seeing when the opposition are on your tail.

All in all its a beautiful crisp clear monitor with an incredible range of colours, which with its ultra widescreen aspect ratio, will make you fall in love with gaming all over again.

HOWEVER, there are a few reasons I just can’t give it 5 stars.

First of all, even with the game setting on, blacks can be way too dark. When night time approaches in games or you enter a dark cave for example, a lot of game detail can be lost in shadows and dark areas. Ive worked around this by setting the monitor to game mode and changing the black correction slider from 50 to 75. This fixes the problem In 90% of games but some may need an additional boost in gamma in the games ‘in game” settings, mostly horror games. Whilst the picture quality is still incredible after these changes it’s a shame to see a slight degradation in colour with some games.

My second issue is game support. Whilst this doesn’t directly reflect in the monitors capabilities itself, it can be a very frustrating issue.

Most games will support the 2560×1080 resolution natively and work flawlessly, but you will no doubt have some games that don’t. You can either run these games at 1920×1080 windowed to avoid stretching, which would be liked playing on something like a 20″ monitor with the screen space you’ll get, OR if your a bit more techy, there are third party mods for most games.

Whilst these mods can make games playable and enjoyable, don’t expect them to be perfect.

The main games I’ve had issues with are actually all Bethesda games, Skyrim Remastered, Fallout 4 and Evil within. All games I’ve got running near perfect, but needed mods having only minor HUD problems which are not bad enough to ruin gameplay or cause any real issues.

So should you get this monitor? YES!

BUT! Do a bit of research first at which games you plan to play on it to see if they support 21:9. Most newer games coming out will support 21:9 out the box but if your planning on playing games that were released during the ps3 or xbox 360 era, then bare in mind these games whilst released on PC too, will most likely be console ports and were originally designed with a standard 16:9 screen aspect for T.Vs. so may not work without some modding or just being run in a 1920×1080 window.

Also make sure your graphics card is up for the additional resolution. Most games I’ve tried have taken a 15-20% performance hit since coming from 1920×1080. However my gtx 780 and i5 4570 still bring in 50-60 fps with most games maxed out at this resolution without exceeding the cards 3gb memory.

Owning the 25″ version of this screen I’ve also found anti aliasing isnt necessary because of the pixel density and having AA on can actually make games look worse. Turning this setting off in most games will also save you a few fps.

Thanks for reading, I hope this helps!

Its a great screen for college work , and it’s REALLY fine , so reading text is nice ! , most of the settings can be adjusted, 2hdmis are actually great to have ! Missing thunderbolt or similar connector so may need to buy an adapter for mac , but overall at this price it’s the best ultra wide !

    I bought the 25″ version

For its price I am extremely impressed with this monitor. The image clarity is exceptional and due to this I run many great games without Anti Aliasing and the edge quality is still nice and sharp. This is great for two reasons the first being that AA set to OFF increases performance and if AA is going to be used the setting only needs to be x2 at most, which can help with performance if the OFF setting shows too many artefacts on edges against transparent backgrounds (Older Unreal games suffer from this a lot).most decnt AAA games run natively in 21:9 but some don but there is an app called flawless widescreen fix which helps with a good bunch of older games (see at the bottom of this review for supported games). […]

The menu offers decent and many colour options, including tertiary colour settings on top of the standard R G B so you can really go to town on setting the thing up. Think of it as an in screen SweetFX Technicolor/Cineon DPX tweak (if your familiar with the software)

My gripe is that Windows/Desktop apps are not using the entire screen. There are a few centimetres on each vertical bezel edge unused by the screen which is a shame as the physical bezel edge is very thin and would make for superb triple screen setups if the screen actually went to the very edge. In fact its such a shame for LG because at these prices, if they were using the entire panel they would be without a doubt the best selling wide screen IPS monitors period as they priced so damn well and are very good despite the small unused area.

Games I run on this monitor and run in 21:9

    Project cars –
Looks ace. If you decide to use AA then you dont really need anything other than the MSAA setting

    Witcher 3 –
Looks great & with no AA except hair edges and some trees against the sky at certain angles. The in game post processing AA (SMAA) gets rid of this and is minimal on FPS

    Gamestock Car Extreme/AMS –
AA is needed to be forced on. by setting in Nvdia CPL/AMD CC – it doesn’t looks good default. Widescreen works fine once you set it in the launch config.

    Borderlands 2 –
Works straight out the box , just set the res in the start up config. Even in game FXAA inst needed. Edges look fine. UI is set to 16:9 .You cant set the UI to go to the edge of your screen but you can reduce the size and position well enough. Top and bottom UI is fine

When you take this monitor out of the package, it may look very small due to the sheer length of the monitor. If you have a 14-inch laptop, please note the height (vertical) of the laptop monitor would be 7.5 inch and this monitor is 10.5 inch.
The quality is of the videos are good. Since the screen ratio is 21:9 than 16:9, normal videos would have black bands on both sides in full-screen mode. There are few videos in NetFlix/Youtube which are 21:9 ratio, they look awesome.
I bought this for my work, where I need multiple apps to be opened and work simultaneously. I can have three apps opened side by side and they look great. It serves my purpose and occasional movie viewing.
Please note this is not height adjustable. If you are going to use this screen as an extended monitor then, placing the laptop in front of the monitor will obstruct the view. You will have to place your laptop side by side to use the monitor.

    First Impressions
Really impressed by the monitor and the timely delivery. I do video-editing, photo-editing, graphic design and gaming on this.

    PROs
-has decent RGB coverage. While not obviously on par with the professional-grade monitors with accurate colour gamut, this one is decent if you’re starting out.
-I would argue the 25 inch version is actually the better size if you’re sitting a foot away from the monitor as you wont have to turn your neck a lot. Also higher DPI gives a sharper look. I dig that.
    – gaming is also surprisingly good. Has Freesync so good on that. But remember that its a 2560×1080 resolution so you there will be an fps drop. Make sure your machine can handle it.
    – has LG screen split software (needs installation on pc) that helps you split the screen from 1 to 8 different sections. helps in multitasking. Although smaller the window gets, the contents get cramped. If you need more than 5 windows open would recommend getting a higher resolution wider screen.
    – has VESA mount.

    CONS
    – the stand is not height adjustable, although has decent tilt angle.
    – does not come with a VESA mount.
    – the screen isn’t truly edge-to-edge as shown in the images. There’s about 1 cm distance from the edge of the display to the edge of the monitor. But that’s nitpicking. Hardly a dealbreaker.
    – Only 60-75 hertz.

    OVERALL
I would def recommend this for beginner editors. gamers and for general purpose multitasking. REALLY good bang for the buck at 12.7k

I’d held off from buying a monitor as most manufacturers in India play their customers for fools- 768p (HD) monitors of 19+” sizes at the same prices where international customers get FHD, and FHD at those prices where international customers get QHD and above.
I had done some high school maths on monitor dimensions and deduced that the best balance between monitor size and text sharpness was when I have 1080p at the height of a 16:9l 17″ monitor.
I tried out a couple of Zebronics monitors before this. They were very light and I was very impressed with their after-sale service. But the viewing angles were horrible.
Eye strain during the lock-down forced me to consider this one.

    My main considerations were:
1- Brand: yet to own an LG product which I was not happy with (mobiles excluded)
2- Size: Because of the 21:9 aspect ratio, this 25″ monitor is only as high as a 17″ monitor of the normal 16:9 ratio.
3- Pixel pitch: 1080p in the height of a normal 17″ monitor should give text that is acceptably sharp. I read newspapers and magazines online; and work on large documents and spreadsheets- so text clarity was a big thing for me.
4- Price: this one is the cheapest you can get for this quality of display (~17″ FHD at ₹ 12,000)

    My experience:
1- Price: 3 STAR. The LG site price is ₹ 12,100, and I got this for around 2k higher. Maybe it was because of the cost of shipping, or extra demand after lockdown. Cost was high, but I guess that is acceptable now because of he risks of local shopping.
2- product Quality: 4 STAR. A big difference compared to Zebronics, but still not quite what LG used to give. The sides of the panels are delicate and the monitor needs to be held in a certain way to avoid accidental damage. This is mentioned in the small manual. Do read it carefully.
3- Connectivity: 5 STAR: 2 HDMI, 1 Headphone and 1 Power (single brick 3 Pin, like an Asus Laptop Charger)
4- Image Quality: Good brightness and contrast. Colour hue is not bluish like most laptops. It is slightly brown and fairly easy on the eye. Screen is matte so no reflections. No bright indicators in the front.
5- Text Quality: 4 STAR: Text is sharp as can be for this pixel pitch. Much better than FHD monitors, but not as good as Acer FHD laptop screens. Text rendition is a mix of the display quality and the adjustments in Windows ClearType and Display Gamma. Even after extensive adjustment, it is okay. But lacks the contrast needed for hours of comfortable viewing. Hue is very good.
6- Display Aspect: 5 STAR: The 21:9 aspect is a revelation. The 1080p, small size (17″ type height) and extra width mean that you can easily view 2 windows at side by side.
7- Mounting: 5 STAR: I mounted it on an existing AmazonBasics Monitor Mount. Mounts and balances like a charm. Just at eye level.

VERDICT: Priced higher than MRP, but is the best you can get (and use) at this price. Buy it without thinking, you will not regret it.
Those who are in the productive field (office use, number crunching, multi-tasking) will find it a boon.
