Continuing the legacy of Noctua’s classic NH-U-series, which has received more than a thousand awards and recommendations from international hardware websites and magazines, the NH-U14S has become a benchmark for high-end 140mm single tower coolers. The TR4-SP3 version is a tailored custom model for AMD’s sTRX4/TR4/SP3 platform (Ryzen Threadripper / Epyc) and features a larger contact surface as well as the latest SecuFirm2 mounting system for socket sTRX4/TR4/SP3. Topped off with the renowned quiet NF-A15 PWM 140mm fan and Noctua’s proven NT-H1 thermal compound, the NH-U14S TR4-SP3 forms a complete premium-quality solution that combines maximum performance and superb acoustics for enthusiast-grade sTRX4/TR4/SP3 systems.
Â
With six heatpipes, a fin surface area of more than 6000cm² and the large NF-A15 140mm fan, the NH-U14S TR4-SP3 provides a superior level of cooling performance that makes it ideal for the most high-end, enthusiast-grade sTRX4/TR4/SP3 systems. |  |
Noctua’s SecuFirm2 mounting systems have become synonymous with quality, safety and ease of use. The TR4-SP3 variant has been completely custom-designed for the new socket and is particularly easy to install: Put on the heatsink, fix the four spring-loaded screws and you’re done! | Â |
In order to assure optimal compatibility with SLI and CrossFire multi-GPU setups, the SecuFirm2 mounting for sTRX4/TR4/SP3 makes it possible to offset the cooler by 3 or 6mm towards the upper edge of the motherboard, thereby increasing clearance of the top PCIe slot. | Â |
Built with Noctua’s AAO standard and sophisticated aerodynamic design measures, the NF-A15 has built up a reputation as one of the best 140mm heatsink fans on the market. |

Pros: Easy to install. Keeps my Threadripper 1950X at 51C (Tdie) 78C (Tctl) while under 100% video encoding with Handbrake! Cons: None Overall Review: I RMA’d the Enermax Liqtech 360 twice after leaking fluid and high temperatures. The lowest temperature I achieved with the Enermax under full load was 62C and 37C idle which was 10 degrees warmer than the Noctua cooler. I installed a second fan on this cooler for a push/pull config, and used the IC Diamond thermal paste. I also applied the thermal paste as illustrated in the instructions. I have the Asrock X399 Taichi motherboard and the Phanteks Enthoo Pro case so I had no issue with the graphics card in the first PCIE slot and I had no issues with 4 sticks of Corsair Vengenace RGB memory although this cooler is huge especially with a second fan. I’m not sure this cooler will work if you have 8 sticks of RAM.

Pros: – Huge heatsink and fan to cool these huge thread ripper cpu’s – Ran some heavy editing and rendering and the heatsinks were super cool and CPU temps under load were VERY cool Cons: – May not fit all cases or MOBO’s. Make sure you know what you are getting into when purchasing this fan. Its only a CON if you didn’t do your research, but you must make sure its going to clear your ram, mobo, GPU, etc. Overall Review: I am running a Thermaltake P3 open case with an ASRock X399 Taichi MOBO, I did have to move the fan up on the heatsink about 1/2″ to accommodate the ram sticks. I went with G Skill Trident ram and they are a little tall and hit the fan.

Pros: – Idle and Load temps are insanely low. I’m doing rendering at 100% utilization and seeing max temps of 54°. – My favorite part: INSALEY QUIET. Seriously, anyone that has owned an Enermax cooler will absolutely adore how quiet this cooler is. – Comes with quality paste and additional fan brackets & more Cons: I had to move my GPU to slot 2. I knew I was going to have to do it so I dont have a problem with it. This may be a problem for someone else, do your research before. If anyone has the same, you’ll have to move the GPU: ROG Zenith Extreme GTX 1080TI STRIX
