Item specifications:

Successor to the award-winning NH-C14, the NH-C14S is an elite class top-flow CPU cooler that is extremely efficient, highly compatible and remarkably adjustable. Thanks to its deeper fin stack and the renowned NF-A14 PWM fan, the single fan NH-C14S provides similar quiet cooling performance to its dual fan predecessor while being even more versatile: With the fan installed on top of the fins, the cooler is compatible with RAM modules of up to 70mm height. With the fan installed underneath the fins, the total height of the cooler is only 115mm, making it suitable for use in many HTPC cases. At the same time, the new offset layout allows it to clear the top PCIe slot on most µATX and ATX motherboards. Topped off with the trusted, pro-grade SecuFirm2 multi-socket mounting system and Noctua’s proven NT-H1 thermal compound, the NH-C14S is a premium quality top-flow solution for the highest demands.

Low Profile Mode
Run with the NF-A14 fan installed underneath the fin stack, the NH-C14S stands only 115mm tall, which is much lower than tower coolers with 140mm or 120mm fans and allows it to fit many desktop style or HTPC cases.
High Clearance Mode
Run with the NF-A14 fan installed on top, the NH-C14S provides extended clearance underneath the fin stack. This way, it is fully compatible with chipset coolers and RAM modules with heat-spreaders of up to 70mm height.
NF-A14 140mm premium fan
Featuring sophisticated aerodynamic optimisations such as Flow Acceleration Channels, the NF-A14 is renowned to be among the best quiet 140mm fans on the market. Combined with the deeper fin stack of the NH-C14S, it allows the cooler to achieve similar performance levels as its dual fan predecessor despite only using a single NF-A14.
NT-H1 thermal compound
Noctua’s much-acclaimed NT-H1 is a pro-grade TIM solution that provides minimum thermal resistance, excellent ease of use and outstanding reliability. Chosen again and again by overclockers and enthusiast users worldwide, it has established itself as a benchmark for premium-quality thermal compounds.
C-Type top-flow design

The c-type top-flow design of the NH-C14S not only allows for superb quiet cooling performance while maintaining a much lower profile than today’s 140mm tower-style coolers but also ensures excellent airflow over RAM modules and near-socket motherboard components.

Pros: Wonderful craftsmanship in the fabrication of this air cooler. It is an easy installation for a 2011-3 Intel Socket, with an included screwdriver and thermal paste. I, for one, like the excellent packaging and am happy to pay for it. This is a great solution for a narrower computer case, (Silverstone TJ-07) that still has outstanding cooling capabilities for those who do not wish to go with water cooling. There was great clearance overall, and I was able to use Corsair Dominator Platinum RAM modules with no clearance issues on an ASUS X99 Pro Motherboard. As this is a “top down” kind of cooler, it does help to keep the Motherboard components cooler. The Noctua Fan is also very quiet, even at 1500 rpm. Of course you could substitute another 140 mm fan with higher RPM, for even better cooling at the trade off of more noise. Cons: This is not an inexpensive cooler, but the quality of this unit is quite tangible in the superior engineering and superior cooling results. Overall Review: I am using this to cool an overclocked i7-5820K CPU, at 4.5 GHZ and 1.28 Volts. It is stable running Intel Stress Test, (mid 70s C) and AIDA 64 Stress Test, (mid 70s C, with Graphics test). Prime95 26.6 Small FFT did not do as well, running mid 90s C, and thermal throttling, but I am not sure there are a great many real applications that mirror that level of CPU demand and heat. At this overclock, AIDA 64 reflects a power draw of 205 Watts for the CPU. In short, you have another great option to cool the Haswell E CPU without going to water cooling. I did run some tests at 4.6 GHZ, and while it was getting warm, I found the CPU needed in excess of 1.31 Volts, and I did not wish to use that much voltage beyond 1.3 Volts to avoid electromigration. Your own results in the Silicon Lottery may vary, but I believe I would have run into that voltage situation no matter what cooler I was using. Outstanding Cooler…!!!!

Pros: With a single pull fan this equals (or betters slightly) 212evo push/pull. Can be oriented in any direction (on AM4). It’s perfect for me, I have CM haf xb evo, with a horizontal mobo, so the pull fan is blowing right into a 200mm top fan. It’s costly but when it’s in your hands it’s easy to see and feel the quality, it’s a work of art really. Cons: CANADA POST!! This was shipped via Purolator, so I figured I was ok. But Purolator handed it off to Canada Post, then the comedy act began! CP sent from Richmond Hill to Mississauga, normal so far. Then to Hamilton, then to Stoney Creek, back to Hamilton, back to Mississauga, then to Barrie. If you don’t know this area, the gist is-it went west, west, west, east, east, then north 60 miles. Our tax dollars at work folks! Sorry for that. Anyway, back to the cons. I don’t have any, but if your mobo is vertical, I would think it should be upper quality cuz this thing is heavy, very heavy. Overall Review: I would def recommend this. My 1600x is oc’d to 3950 (all 6 cores) tdie temp is 24c idle and 54c after 4 hours of 4k Ghost Recon. Why would anyone put water in their pc with temps like this?

Pros: – Amazing amount of extras in the box – Great instructions – Easy to install – Amazing performance – Super, super, super silent – BROWN – Very minimal non-recyclable containers/boxes/etc in the packaging. (I think there were 2 plastic bags and that was it). Overall Review: The attention to detail that Noctua puts into it’s products is unrivaled. The performance at the given noise range and the added benefit of cooling my RAM+VRMs is a nice touch. This is perfect for an ultra low-noise, low dust, always-on computer. I love it. I really am glad that the amount of plastic in the packaging was also very minimal.
