Bought as suggested by my friend….router need to restart or reset as sometimes wife internet not working n by just switching off and on of the router, problen gets solved….
1 big cons: no port given to hang router with screw on wall. Only way to place it on table or shelf

We recently switched from DSL to cable internet and our previous router wasn’t compatible with the new modem. This one arrived promptly and was easy to set up. The directions were minimal, but that was all that was needed. I liked the tech support number was included in the packaging, but it wasn’t required.

So reading all the reviews here like best router, awesome range, bla bla bla. I decided to purchase this router. My house is a three storey, so the old D-Link router that was provided with my Airtel Broadband couldn’t reach every corner of the house. So I was looking for a router that had very good range on the 2.4 GHz band so that it could reach every corner of the house and provided atleast 8-10 Mbps out of the total 50 Mbps or so (Airtel says 40 Mbps but it varies from 45-55 Mbps) when the signal strength is average. The other routers I considered were the TP-Link Archer C6 and Archer A6. Read some horror stories about the range of 2.4 GHz band on both the routers, so finally decided to go for this. And have to say, very disappointed with the performance of this Tenda router.
First of all, credit where it is due. When it works, it is absolutely a beast in terms of range on the 2.4 GHz band. In every corner of the house, even if poor or fair sometimes, the signal does reach. I have it placed in one corner of the house, but the signal does reach the other corner of the house too.
But sadly, that’s where the fun ends.
I have placed it on the middle floor of the house. And my room is immediately above the room where I have placed this router. When it works, it would give signal strength as Excellent. But it is so unreliable, that sitting in the exact same spot, the signal strength would change from Fair to Good to Very Good to Excellent. Even when the signal strength is excellent, out of the 50 Mbps, I only get about 15-25 Mbps in my room. Even when just out outside the room where the router is kept, the speed drops to about 30 Mbps, like not even 5 metres away from the router. Talking about standing right in front of the router, it still gives 40 Mbps or so. So still not the full speed. That is really disappointing.
Now talking about the 5 GHz band. I knew what I was getting into before buying this router in this regard. It’s range is absolutely below par. If you have anything below 50 Mbps, don’t even bother buying this router for the 5 GHz band. A single band router will be much better and cheaper. The range is like the signal strength would Good-Very Good in the next room, but will drop down to Poor-Marginal-Fair if you go further to the next room. The good thing is that it still gives about 30 Mbps on the 5 GHz band when the signal is fair, which is rare in the second room away from where it is kept and the signal mostly is poor. But then again I knew to keep my expectations in check with the 5 GHz band before buying. The funny thing is, when the 5Ghz band has Fair or Marginal signal, it still gives about 25-30 Mbps. When you sit in the same spot, the strength on the 2.4 GHz band would be Good or Very Good, but it’s speed will still be only about 12-15 Mbps, which is surprising.
Overall, the range is good when it works, but the problem is that it is very rare. I continuously have to keep switching Wifi channel throughout the day to keep the optimal performance. Something I didn’t have to do even with my old D-Link router which has a MRP of just ₹750. And this router has an MRP of ₹5000 on the box.
Also, don’t know what happens, but suddenly it decides that it isn’t gonna work randomly throughout the day and the speed would drop to below 2 Mbps. Even rebooting the router or changing the channel doesn’t fix the problem. After sometime, it goes back to normal.
It is horrible if you expect consistency in performance from your router, and would probably pull out a few of your hair dealing with the frustration that you will have when it stops working randomly.
The Tenda app is really basic and lacks most of the features available on the Web Interface. Kind of useless. Helpful only when you have to reboot the router or check the connected devices quickly and don’t want to go and login in the browser.
Overall, the thing is, avoid buying this if you can. I couldn’t figure out which router to finally choose reading negative reviews of both TP link and D-Link routers, so took a gamble buying this router. A gamble I certainly regret now. Might as well had continued with the old D-Link router and get frustrated with the low signal, saving ₹2500 in the process. Atleast that one is more reliable than this.
Anyways, if you found my review helpful, mark it as Helpful so that this can reach more people and they can become aware of what they might be buying into and make their decision accordingly. Peace!
Also, attached a screenshot to show the performance. This is in my room one floor above where the router is placed. As you can see, the signal strength is excellent but still I’m only getting 15 Mbps. Checked a while back on my desktop which is connected through LAN, I am getting 80 Mbps on my Airtel connection. So definitely an issue with the router here.

BT upgraded me so badly that I lost Wi-Fi in the next room. Wanted to upgrade me further for an additional £13 to guarantee me Wi-Fi back into the same room. Decided on this purchase. Well what a difference not only do I have Wi-Fi in the next room but now the whole house at full speed. Please bare in mind it’s a 300 year old cottage with 3 foot thick internal walls. I now also get Wi-Fi in my garden. Well done Tenda. BT you should be ashamed.

I was so happy to recieve it, fast shipping to but … after a few hours I wanted it sending it back. The range is dissapointed for me bcs my house is 26 meters long and the range didn’t make it so far??? .It’s was not even close to my original router I use from my provider Scarlet. So I wanted to use it as a bridge or range extender but there was a problem to do that so I send it back. Maybe it was bcs it was a second hand router??? Positive was a guest connection possibility that was for me a great option. Only the range was dissapointed for use in my long house! There is no router that has a range of 26 meters meters in lenght? I guess needing access points or a 2 xpensive mesh.

I was in search of a good and affordable router when my Tp-link router (TL-WR840N) started having issues with 40Mbps fiber broadband connection. It was having frequent internet dropouts and had to restart about 5 times a day. It wont stay connected to my PS4 during fortnite gameplay and same experience with movie streaming on Amazon prime and Netflix. Speed drops drastically and make gaming and streaming impossible. Out of frustration i started looking for a good and affordable router. Came across Tenda AC10 and read lot for reviews from around the world mentioning its excellent price to performance ratio. And i decided to giver it a try.
Performance:
I am really surprised with its performance and wifi coverage. Now i am getting full wifi coverage in every corner of my house and with full speed for 40 Mbps. No drop in speed at any distance within house. I measured the wifi strength at different point inside house with wifi analyzer app. The place where my PS4 was placed had a signal strength of 75% with old Tp-link router and with Tenda i am getting 98% wifi signal strength. I was getting a speed of around 10 -15 mbps which also drops below 5 mbps with Tp-link. No such issues with Tenda i am getting 40Mbps download and upload speed consistently in every corner of the house. Its been few days and i never experienced any internet dropouts. Overall best performance. And yeah i am using 2.4Ghz band for now and in my observation, the 2.4Ghz band performance of AC10 is better than other brands upto 5K price range (which i tested – Tp-link, Asus, Netgear(these are routers my friends own)). I feel 5Ghz band performance is weaker in tenda compared to Asus and netgear. Not bad for a dual band affordable router though. But there is definitely space for improvement. 2.4 Ghz performance in untouchable by any of the above mentioned brands. So people just getting this for 5Ghz please keep that in mind. I am using just the 2.4Ghz for now and more than happy with the performance. There is a maintenance and reboot feature. I’ve set it to reboot daily at 3 AM. Which will restart the router and makes software runs smoothly.
This router can work as a repeater and AP as well. Beamforming+ is a nice technology and boost signal strength.
I cannot comment much on security. I find it similar to other routers from Tp-link or Asus or Dlink. It has WPA2-PSK encryption. I saw settings for other security features inside app, which is nice.
This model is without USB.
Installation:
Installation was a breeze with the tenda quick installer (thru browser). I had set it up in under 10 mins. Just had to connect with ISP to update MAC address of new router. After setup you can download the Tenda app and control the router functionality thru it. Lot of useful features like signal strength selector, Parental control etc.
Packaging, Delivery and Build Quality:
Delivery was quick with 1 day delivery. Thanks to Amazon and seller for quick turnaround time. Product came in its original box without any extra box or bubble wrap outside. This is due to Amazon’s go green initiative. Anyway my product reached safe, so no complaints there.
AC10 have a very good plastic cabinet. Sturdy with matte finish. Antenna is a bit wobbly, but no impact on performance or no need to worry about it. 12V1A AC adapter with Indian plug type is included. There is a small Ethernet cable as well as quick install guide.
I am really happy with its performance. Thanks for reading.
