I have a 200 mbps broadband coming to my house. With this Netgear WiFi extender, I get almost 160 mbps in my bedroom where the main broadband WiFi does not reach. I’m very happy with this extender

So i researched a bit and finally decided to buy this one instead of TP link. one thing which skewed my purchase towards this was it is not tacky looking while TP link has antennas which is for aesthetics only, i am presuming, this one however is pretty compact and gives a decent look.
Installation was a chore to be honest. mtwifiext.net wasn’t opening for me no matter how i tried. So i had to install using IP address. I removed 1 star because of this.
After installation it is working fine. No problems noticed so far. All dead zones are being covered by new wi-fi signal. I added both original and extender network to amazon alexa as well so all my smart devices are now working as they should be.
Overall much satisfied with the purchase.

Received 2 years old product.
It’s connected via WPS button. Router and this device are having WPS button. It gives both frequencies 2.4ghz and 5G. It’s automatically connect when we press WPS button of router and extender at a time. Router is installed on 1st floor basement. Extender installed on 2nd floor staircase. Terrace (above 3rd floor) camera getting signal and i am able to access terrace camera.
Cons:
No option for the same network. It’s creating new sid/network name. Name pattern is Existing _sid_name + EXT.

Purchased it for 2199 in May’23. Working well thus far (30May2023). As someone else said, looks good without all those antennas that the other models have. Picks up and rechannels both 2.4 and 5 GHz spectrum.
WFH with the router in the ground floor and my work desk in first floor was proving to be a challenge and was usually stuck to a particular spot and signal was not always constant as well.
Once I got this setup in the first floor I was able to relocate my desk to a more comfy place around 30 feet away from the extender, with 2 doors in between, which remain c;losed as well. And there is a marked consistency with the signal strength too.
Attached is the speed comparison – I have a BB with 30MBps speed limit: First 2 tests directly connected to router before I moved my desk. 3rd test is after moving the desk to current location and connected to Netgerar Extender. Also note that the Extender is currently positioned where my desk was previously.
Reducing 1 start for the tedious setup. It was hard enough for a guy working with computers, it would be near impossible for normal folks.

Didn’t expect this. It’s a 1200, you would expect AT LEAST 80% of your bandwidth when you connect to the extender. Mine is a 500 Mbps connection, when I directly connect to the router’s 5GHz network, I get almost the same in speed test.
I plugged in the extender right next to the WiFi router & did the setup. Connected to extender’s 5GHz network, did a speed test & got just 80 Mbps. Plugged in the extender in the next room where I need it. Did the speed test again, got 45 Mbps.
This is a worthless piece of equipment.
PS: It’s a 1200 sq ft apartment, and the result is simply unacceptable.
