So, for starters, the build quality is great and the Bluetooth works great, the design is alien (in a cool way). However, talking about the sound quality, which is paramount, it’s definitely subpar. From a person who enjoys the full array of frequencies that the human ear can sense, this speaker seemed to add a really boomy and muddy undertone to all the music it played.

After getting the speaker, and comparing it to my previous, the UE Wonderboom 1, it was astoundingly clear how much this signature of the speaker was prevalent, even after turning up the mids and highs from the Sony app, given the Wonderboom has a lively signature tending to boost the higher frequencies more.

Conversing with an enthusiast friend of mine, who recently bought the JBL Flip 6, they suggested to get the Bose Soundlink Flex instead of the Flip 6 which I was debating. I jumped the boat and returned this speaker instantly and bought the Bose. I’m extremely happy I did.

A little mini-review of the Soundlink Flex:
The speaker is amazing, and the only real compromise is the battery life which is advertised as 12 hours. But, since the most extreme activity I might do with this is a tiny trek, that didn’t seem like much of an inconvenience to me.

I’d suggest that same hierarchy of speakers; XE200<Flip 6<Soundlink Flex.

I would not suggest this speaker to anyone other than bassheads who want to hear a muddy version of every song with the bass cranked to 10.
