I have bought about a dozen of these 8TB drives over the last year in both NAS type and backup applications and highly recommend them for the right use – bulk storage.
– You cant beat the low cost per TB.
– People have complained about the noise. I have found these to be quite quiet compared to 7200rpm drives, although like most hard drives (as opposed to SSDs) you do hear the drive head and is moves from track to track. With a lot of accessing, you hear a lot of clicking from that motion. If you need silence, a SSD is the way to go instead of a mechanical hard drive.
-The best part is the 8TB ones are CMR – so no penalty for writing as the drive fills up unlike the SMR similarly priced drives from Seagate.
-The read or write speed is decent and what one would expect from a mechanical hard drive. I usually get about 80 to 90 MB/s writes or reads over a Gigabit network on these drives and similar or slightly better values when copying between two drives in the same same PC.
-I prefer the 5640 rpm speed to 7200 rpm – virtually no vibration from the drive spinning compared to quite a bit from a few 7200 rpm drives I have used. Since the network speed limits my data rates I probably would not get much improvement from perhaps 25% greater drive data rate at 7200 rpm. And for applications that need speed like the Windows or Linux boot drive, SSDs are the way to go anyway because they are an order of magnitude faster.
-So far I haven’t had one go bad – but they are mechanical devices so like any hard drive they wont last forever. Neither will SSDs for that matter since they suffer from electrical wear and charge degradation.

Es un buen producto por su funcionalidad.
Mucho se dice del ruido, a mi experiencia personal, en si los discos duros hacen algunos ruidos comunes de lectura, escritura, etc. Este en particular se mantiene en un nivel común medio/bajo, y en 3 meses de uso, no ha generado más ruido del regular. Por funcionalidad esta muy bien, es lo que se espera en velocidades de un disco duro, yo tengo la versión de 7200rpm y no hay ninguna queja.
En cuanto a relación calidad precio, es un buen producto.
