EKSA AirComfy Headset with Microphone for PC Gaming and professional calling WFH or office calling

I need these for phone calls and video calls with either my Android phone or my PC. For that, the 3.5mm wired technology works great. I had been very happy with my 

Jeeco Xiberia Headset

 until the microphone got full of static. Those are unavailable now, so I searched for a replacement and couldn’t find anything good at that price point, tried these instead at 2X the price.

These are lightweight as advertised. The protein foam (= real leather??) ear cups are a plus. Real leather should last longer than the imitation leather polyurethane “leatherette” ear cups that are so common. But they don’t have the “close out the world” quality that the 

Xiberia Headset

 has. Sound quality is OK, neither exceptionally good nor bad for this price point. The headband extension mechanism is sturdy and works smoothly. The microphone mute button has good tactile feedback for muted or unmuted. The voice quality is good. I have not tested it with background noise. The connector plug is gold-plated.

Some negative things: The cable is not covered with fabric braid like the 

Xiberia Headset

. It is an unshielded, rather thin rubbery cable that doesn’t inspire a feeling of longevity. The strain reliefs at either end are poorly designed. If you pull the cable on a well-designed strain relief to a 90 degree angle, the cable should go through a smooth bend. With a poor design, the bend is concentrated just past the end of the molded strain relief. That puts all the bending stress in one spot and leads to early failure when the internal conductors break.

The ear cups rotate through 90 degrees. Experience says the rotation joint could be point of failure through accidental stress, like dropping on the floor or packing in a backpack. My pair are going to sit on my desk or get worn around the house while I am on a phone call, so they are not too likely to be over stressed, but again, the 

Xiberia Headset

 seems sturdier.

Overall, a reasonable quality headset for what I want to do, but taking off one star for the quality issues at this price point. They would be 5-stars at half the price.
