As I already own a Wonderboom 3 which is pink, I purchased this blue Wonderboom 3 for the purpose of stereophonic sound – when connected together they really rock, quite literally.
Paired them up with YouTube with a disco song from the 80s – a Kamalahassan Tamil movie – Sagalakala Vallavan – song – ”Happy New Year” – which was popular in my decade and the drums effect was awesome.
Paired them to the TV with Prime Video with a horror movie, again the sound effects were absolutely real. Howling, Growling etc were really deep. All in All, a Fantastic Purchase.

Before listening to wonderboom 3 I always thought it’s only Marshall, jbl and Bose that make the best sounding bluetooth speaker in India. I tested Bose, Marshall and jbl range of speakers up to 30k price range. Marshall middleton sounds the best and outstanding all speakers. Most of the speakers miss stereo sound and there are very few speakers from jbl and marshall that offer stereo sound making the soundstage wide. I wanted to avoid Bose because of their bad after sales service and their speakers are also quite outdated now with hardly any upgrade from past few years.
Ultimate ears were not available at any store for demo so I purchased one from Amazon anyways it was not that costly.
I was surprised with the sharpness and bass offered by such a small speaker and at this price tag is very impressive. Infact speakers costing even double the price will not be able to give this soundstage. This speakers leaves all the premium brands behind with its sound and built quality.
It’s absolutely value for money because it really gives you a complete package.
This is my upgrade from Bose color II and flex.

I love that its really loud in a tiny body!!!
Heard someone using this and decided to get this cause my sony speakers do justice but isnt THAT loud. When my sony speaker is at like 100%, this speaker is only at like maybe 20/30%? ( IM actually in love 😂😍)

Compared it to a few chinese brand speakers – built quality and sound is so much better here, if you’re on the fence I highly recommend spending a little more money and getting this speaker. It sounds great no matter which way it’s facing (unlike tube-type speakers). The only negative is It’s a bit heavy and kinda bulky, so might not be perfect for bike rides or backpacking.

Just as described in the previous reviews. Loud, packed small, sounds big, satisfying and clear!

The following is not a review but what convinced me to go for it and what considerations were. I’m pretty satisfied at this moment(day 1) hearing it since it came.
Though i was skeptical about the longetivity after hearing long term reviews (and that has to be watched), I went ahead and purchased it over boat stone 1000 which I found to be the only bluetooth option considering it had an advanced bluetooth 4.7.

I wanted a bluetooth speaker but i was very disappointed with indian brands and zook for two reasons:
    1. They all had mannual power on off or volume buttons and because of that, they end up being dysfunctional later.
    2. All their bluetooth and battery deteriorated very fast.

Then I decided to buy a speaker with good battery and push buttons rather than the manual buttons.

Only boat 1000 and foreign brands were able to satisfy on my criteria. I needed punchy clear sustainable sound. The sound quality volume and battery should be sustainable and the integrated circuits dependable.

I’ve ruled out jbl flip 3 stealth edition and all devices in sub 5000 inr categories. Most of them don’t fit in the sub 2000 categories. My old drum shaped speakers had a punch but lacked clarity and had manual buttons. Going to a repair shop isn’t easy as sometimes they don’t want to repair because the units were compact.

Thats the reason I’ve had boat 1000 in my mind because I’ve read in reviews that many users could even replace battery and speaker and sub woofers in that unit. I went ahead to buy boat but later realzed i no long longer have a motivation to have another bulky speaker(atleast for now)

In this very independence day sale (2019), I cancelled/ returned orders of boat stone 1000 and boult bassbox. Boult was fulfilling with good surround but the sound quality didn’t seem sustainable for me.

Then I got Wonderboom and yes its amazing for me. I paired with my Echo dot and listen to it at maximum volume 5(50%) at desk, and volume 8(80%)elsewhere in my 15feet x18 feet room.

The clarity is so fulfilling and satisfying when not compared.

Now i realized that quality is subjective. You should decide for yourself by buying it. I went ahead to experiment and it went well for me. At volume 10(max) its pretty punchy and you may probably have to lower the volume to 8(80%).

The clarity and that highs, mids and lows are so well represented won my loyalty to UE for now.

I just hope that the aftersales issues will be catered well(just in case)

Searching for a good sound gear might look to unnecessary effort to few. But people spend and modify their existing speakers, and even spend lakhs for their desired quality. For my quality requirement wonderboom fits well. Anything better will be welcoming. But this just fits well.

The only other device under INR 5000 category according to me is boat stone 1000 because it can be later modified.

    About Ultimate Ears (UE)

UE is an american subsidiary of Logitech for those who are not aware. This should convince you.
They have an India specific page and Amazon is the only authorised seller of their products in India. This should convince you of the brand.

    My verdict!

If you are not into bulky speakers yet need sound fulfilment aspect, Consider wonderboom! Highly recommended!

Pretty good sound for the money, I really like the shape, size and the 360º music dispersion. The feature I like the most is the hanging loop. I hang this in my bathroom, just outside of the shower on a coat hook. It’s super easy to pack in my carry-on luggage, so it’s very convenient to travel with. We have a couple of them so we sometimes pair them to play together (mono only, no stereo on this 1st gen version). No complaints with battery life, it lasts a long time, I use it every day for 20-30 mins and I only charge it once every 3 or 4 weeks.

I have three big gripes with this thing. When you turn it on and off it makes a very LOUD and ANNOYING booming sound. This is an intentional part of the design and it’s flat out dumb. Whoever thought this was a good idea needs to get out of the industrial design field. There is no way to disable this booming sound, which is ridiculous. You literally wake people up at night when you turn this thing on or off. You can hear it 1 floor away in our house (basement to upstairs with a carpeted floor).

My 2nd gripe is that it uses a Micro USB port instead of USB-C for charging. The port is covered, recessed and all black, so it is VERY difficult to see and insert the cable properly. Another idiotic design element. They could have changed this on the 2nd gen, but did they? Nope.

My final complaint is that I can’t seem to control my music consistently with the button on top. Sometimes I can skip to the next track, other times it ignores my input. This feature seems half-baked and it works great on my other bluetooth speakers (different brands). Maybe this thing (1st gen) has an old Bluetooth version.

    ** Update 3/7/2018 **
The speakers small amount of scratchiness has dissipated.
I think the break-in period meant some stiffness in the woofers perhaps.
Not sure exactly. But I’ve used it nearly every day since I purchased it and it sounds great.

A coworker bought a UE Boom 2 (the long cylindrical cousin of this squat chunky speaker)
And we were surprised at the difference.
The Boom 2 has no bass at all. It’s like they sucked out any Lows.
In comparison, the Wonderboom sounds wayyy better.
    Adding a star for that.
Still annoying how the on/off sounds are loud.
Also found that it takes forever to charge.

    **Original Review**
I got sucked into their ad campaign I admit.
They make the product look cool. GREAT marketing team.
The formfactor of their products is very cool and pleasing as well.

Very well made, has a good solid feel and texture to it.
I’m a collector of cheap bluetooth speakers it seems.
Bigger brick style ones, smaller spherical ones etc.
    The $20-$50 range usually.
They either stop working or have very poor sound that’s very one directional.
I figured it was time to step up to a little pricier/nicer one.
I didn’t quite want to go with Harmon Kardon so this WonderBoom was a good pricepoint!

I do like the multiple woofers (I think there are two inside) so it’s not exactly “360” as they say, but it’s definitely better than what I’ve had in the past.
The color is perfect lol (black) which I like as it’s understated but the colorful ones look cool as well!

My gripes and why I took two stars off:
The power-on and power-off sounds are always loud.
If you have the speaker playing at a low volume, and you want to shut it off, well, you get a big sound as you shut it off.
It would be better if the sound effects were either mutable or abided by the sound level chosen for speaker output.

The other more prevalent and important issue is the sound.
There’s certainly a bass quality in the speaker, which is nice; but the highs sound quite scratchy.
I do stream 192kbps from spotify sources that have it. The audio isn’t wildly scratchy but if listening for it it’s noticeable.
I’m not sure if that’s due in part to the waterproofing layer around the enclosure or if that’s just how it comes through regardless.
As I wrote this the noticeability became more and more of an annoyance….So this went from a 4 to a 3 star review pretty quickly.

In my opinion for $85 which is a bit of a entry level premium price, I’d expect richer, warmer sound with no amount of scratchiness.

I’ll use it a few more days and decide if it’s worth returning and diving into a harmon kardon speaker after all.

I’ve used UE products for years and finally decided to upgrade my pair of Roll 2s since those are out of production. This speaker is easy to connect and use. It sounds pretty good at high volumes and is pretty immersive. There’s a few things I loved about the old UE Rolls that are missing here. These WB3 isn’t compatible with the app, and thus there isn’t an equalizer. You can still pair these but at this price point buying a pair is not on my agenda. I also miss the floatation device that came with the old Rolls. The WB3 floats and is water resistant but I much prefer my speakers to be out of the river or lake or pool as much as possible and that’s where I use them the most. I use this new speaker on my kayak though and it sounds pretty good outdoors but the sound can get lost at big parties. I suppose that’s not the intent. Overall I like this. I just wish it was a much better upgrade. The one area I feel they improved is the battery life. They claim 22 hours on a full charge and I’ve had it playing for 12 hours no problem.
